2:1 ‫ַוּנֵפֶ ן‬ ‫וַּנִ ַּסע‬ ‫ַה ִּמ ְד ָּב ָרה‬ ‫ֶּד ֶר‬ ‫יַם‬ ‫סּוף ־‬

ֹ ‫ָה ָהר ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫ְּפנּו‬ ‫לָ כֶ ם‬

Ye have compassed this

And command thou the

ֵ ‫א‬ ‫ְּבנֵי‬ ‫עֵ ׂשָ ו ־‬ ‫ַהּיֹ ְׁש ִבים‬ ‫ְּבׂשֵ ִעיר‬ ‫יראּו‬
ְ ִ‫ְוי‬ ‫ִמּכֶ ם‬ of Esau, which dwell in
Seir; and they shall be
achi·km bni - oshu e·ishbim b·shoir u·iirau m·km
afraid of you: take ye good
brothers-of·you(p) sons-of Esau the·ones-dwelling in·Seir and·they-shall-fear from·you(p)
heed unto yourselves
therefore:
‫ְונִ ְׁש ַמ ְר ֶּתם‬ ‫ ְמאֹד‬:

2:5 ‫אַ ל‬ ‫ִּת ְתּגָרּו ־‬ ‫ָבם‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫אֶ ֵּתן ־ ל ֹא‬ ‫לָ כֶ ם‬

Meddle not with them; for

foot breadth; because I have
‫ֵמאַ ְרצָ ם‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫ִמ ְד ַר‬ ‫ּכַ ף‬ ‫ָרגֶל ־‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫יְ ֻרּׁשָ ה ־‬ ‫ְלעֵ ׂשָ ו‬ ‫נ ַָת ִּתי‬ ‫ַהר ־ אֶ ת‬ given mount Seir unto Esau
[for] a possession.

Ye shall buy meat of them

food you(p)-shall-purchase from·with·them in·the·silver and·you(p)-eat and·even waters and ye shall also buy water
of them for money, that ye
‫ִּת ְכרּו‬ ‫ֵמ ִא ָּתם‬ ‫ַּבּכֶ ֶסף‬ ‫יתם‬
ֶ ‫ּוׁש ִת‬
ְ : may drink.

For the LORD thy God

wilderness: these forty years

. And when we passed by

and from Eziongaber, we

turned and passed by the

And the LORD said unto
u·iamr ieue al·i al - thtzr ath - muab u·al - me, Distress not the
and·he-is-saying Yahweh to·me must-not-be you-are-distressing » Moab and·must-not-be Moabites, neither contend
with them in battle: for I
‫ִּת ְתּגָר‬ ‫ָּבם‬ ‫ִּכי ִמ ְל ָח ָמה‬ ‫אֶ ֵּתן ־ ל ֹא‬ 1‫ְל‬ 6‫ֵמאַ ְרצ‬ will not give thee of their
land [for] a possession;

ָ ‫ְלפָ נִ ים‬ ‫י ְָׁשבּו‬ ‫ָבּה‬ ‫עַ ם‬ ‫ל‬6‫ּגָד‬ ‫ְו ַרב‬ ‫ו ָָרם‬ ‫ענ ִָקים‬
ֲ ָ‫ּכ‬ :

The Emims dwelt therein
e·amim l·phnim ishbu b·e om gdul u·rb u·rm k·onqim : in times past, a people
the·Emim to·faces they-dwelt in·her people great and·many and·being-high as·the·Anakim great, and many, and tall, as
the Anakims;
2:11 ‫ְרפָ ִאים‬ ‫ֵח ְׁשבּו‬
ָ ‫י‬ ‫אַ ף‬ ‫ֵהם ־‬ ‫ענ ִָקים‬
ֲ ָ‫ּכ‬ ‫ְו ַהּמֹאָ ִבים‬

Which also were
rphaim ichshbu aph - em k·onqim u·e·mabim accounted giants, as the
Rephaim they-are-being-accounted indeed they as·the·Anakim and·the·Moabites Anakims; but the Moabites
call them Emims.
‫יִ ְק ְראּו‬ ‫לָ ֶהם‬ ‫ אֵ ִמים‬:

ְ ‫י ְָׁשבּו‬ ‫ַהח ִֹרים‬ ‫ְלפָ נִ ים‬ ‫ּובנֵי‬
ְ ‫עֵ ׂשָ ו‬ ‫ירׁשּום‬
ָ ִ‫י‬

The Horims also dwelt in

and·in·Seir they-dwelt the·Horites to·faces and·sons-of Esau they-are-evicting·them children of Esau succeeded
them, when they had

ֶ ‫ִמ ְּפנ‬ ‫ֵׁשבּו‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ַּת ְח ָּתם‬ destroyed them from before
them, and dwelt in their

stead; as Israel did unto the
and·they-are-cexterminating·them from·faces-of·them and·they-are-dwelling instead-of·them
land of his possession,
which the LORD gave unto
‫ּכַ אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫עָ ׂשָ ה‬ ‫יִ ְׂש ָראֵ ל‬ ‫ְלאֶ ֶרץ‬ 6‫יְ ֻרּׁשָ ת‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫נ ַָתן ־‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫לָ ֶהם‬ : them.

ַ ‫נ‬ ‫ז ֶָרד‬

Now rise up, [said I],

And the space in which

and·the·days which we-went from·Kadesh~Barnea until which we-crossed » watercourse-of Kadeshbarnea, until we
were come over the brook

ֹ ‫ּוׁש‬
ְ ‫ׁשָ נָה‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫ּתֹם ־‬ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫ר ־‬6‫ַהּד‬ ‫אַ נְ ׁשֵ י‬ Zered, [was] thirty and
eight years; until all the

generation of the men of
Zered thirty and·eight year until to-come-to-end-of all-of the·generation mortals-of
war were wasted out from
among the host, as the

2:15 ‫ְוגַם‬ ‫יַד‬ ‫יְ הוָה ־‬ ‫ָהיְ ָתה‬ ‫ָּבם‬ ‫ְל ֻה ָּמם‬ ‫ִמ ֶּק ֶרב‬

For indeed the hand of

and·moreover hand-of Yahweh she-became in·them to·to-discomfit-of·them from·within-of them, to destroy them from
among the host, until they
‫חנֶה‬
ֲ ‫ַה ַּמ‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫ֻּת ָּמם‬ : were consumed.

So it came to pass, when

Thou art to pass over

And [when] thou comest

and·you-come-near before sons-of Ammon must-not-be you-are-distressing·them children of Ammon, distress
them not, nor meddle with
‫ְואַ ל‬ ‫ִּת ְתּגָר ־‬ ‫ָּבם‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫אֶ ֵּתן ־ ל ֹא‬ ‫ֵמאֶ ֶרץ‬ them: for I will not give thee
of the land of the children

given it unto the children of

ָ ‫נְ ַת ִּת‬ ‫יְ ֻרּׁשָ ה‬ : Lot [for] a possession.

2:20 ‫אֶ ֶרץ‬ ‫ְרפָ ִאים ־‬ ‫ֵּת ָחׁשֵ ב‬ ‫אַ ף‬ ‫ְרפָ ִאים ִהוא ־‬ ‫י ְָׁשבּו‬ ‫ָבּה ־‬ ‫ְלפָ נִ ים‬

(That also was accounted
artz - rphaim thchshb aph - eua rphaim ishbu - b·e l·phnim a land of giants: giants
land-of Rephaim she-is-being-accounted indeed she Rephaim they-dwelt in·her to·faces dwelt therein in old time;
and the Ammonites call
‫ְו ָהעַ ּמֹנִ ים‬ ‫יִ ְק ְראּו‬ ‫לָ ֶהם‬ ‫ז ְַמז ִֻּמים‬ : them Zamzummims;

and·the·Ammonites they-are-calling to·them Zumzummim

2:21 ‫עַ ם‬ ‫ל‬6‫ּגָד‬ ‫ְו ַרב‬ ‫ו ָָרם‬ ‫ענ ִָקים‬

ֲ ָ‫ּכ‬ ‫ידם‬
ֵ ‫ַׁש ִמ‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬

A people great, and
om gdul u·rb u·rm k·onqim u·ishmid·m ieue many, and tall, as the
people great and·many and·being-high as·the·Anakim and·he-is-cexterminating·them Yahweh Anakims; but the LORD
destroyed them before
‫ֵיהם‬
ֶ ‫ִמ ְּפנ‬ ‫ירׁשֻ ם‬
ָ ִ‫וַּי‬ ‫ֵׁשבּו‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ַת ְח ָּתם‬ : them; and they succeeded
them, and dwelt in their

stead:
from·faces-of·them and·they-are-evicting·them and·they-are-dwelling instead-of·them

2:22 ‫ּכַ אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫עָ ׂשָ ה‬ ‫ִל ְבנֵי‬ ‫עֵ ׂשָ ו‬ ‫ַהּיֹ ְׁש ִבים‬ ‫ְּבׂשֵ ִעיר‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ִה ְׁש ִמיד‬ ‫־ אֶ ת‬

As he did to the children

as·which he-did for·sons-of Esau the·ones-dwelling in·Seir which he-cexterminated » Seir, when he destroyed the
Horims from before them;
‫ַהח ִֹרי‬ ‫ֵיהם‬
ֶ ‫ִמ ְּפנ‬ ‫ירׁשֻ ם‬
ָ ִ‫וַּי‬ ‫ֵׁשבּו‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ַת ְח ָּתם‬ and they succeeded them,
and dwelt in their stead

even unto this day:
the·Horite from·faces-of·them and·they-are-evicting·them and·they-are-dwelling instead-of·them

ָ ‫ְו‬ ‫ַהּיֹ ְׁש ִבים‬ ‫ַּבחֲצֵ ִרים‬ ‫עַ ד‬ ‫עַ ּזָה ־‬ ‫ּכַ ְפּת ִֹרים‬ ‫ַהּיֹ ְצ ִאים‬

And the Avims which

and·the·Avvim the·ones-dwelling in·courts as-far-as Gaza Caphtorim the·ones-coming-forth unto Azzah, the

ֻ ‫ִה ְׁש ִמ‬ ‫ֵׁשבּו‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ַת ְח ָּתם‬ : forth out of Caphtor,
destroyed them, and dwelt

in their stead.)
from·Caphtor they-cexterminated·them and·they-are-dwelling instead-of·them

2:24 ‫קּומּו‬ ‫ְּסעּו‬ ‫ְו ִע ְברּו‬ ‫ַחל ־ אֶ ת‬

ַ ‫נ‬ ‫אַ ְר ֹנן‬ ‫ְראֵ ה‬ ‫נ ַָת ִּתי‬

. Rise ye up, take your

Heshbon, and his land:
