1. Discuss the definition of India as given in the Preamble of the Constitution ?

Ans. The Indian Constitution declares India as a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic.

worship; To create equality of dignity and opportunity and to ensure the dignity of the

Ans. The Preamble of the Constitution declares the State of India as a ‘Sovereign Socialist
Secular Democratic Republic’. The words ‘Socialism’ and ‘Secular’ were added to the Preamble
by the 42nd Constitutional Amendment in 1976.
