    William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. He wrote approximately 38 plays and 154 sonnets throughout his career and his plays were performed in the Globe Theatre in London during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. Shakespeare died in 1616 at the age of 52 and is buried in Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon.
