The bar chart illustrates how many cars with engines fueled by both electricity and petrol

were sold worldwide from 2006 to 2009.

Overall, it is clear that the numbers of hybrid cars sold in Japan and the other parts
experienced upward trends in the period in question, while there was a variation in
the figure for the USA at the same time. In addition, much more hybrid vehicles were
consumed in the USA except for the year 2009.

In 2006, the amount of income of hybrid cars in the USA was 250 000 vehicles,
followed by the equal figures for Japan and the other regions (just over 50 000 for
each).

In 2009, the quantities of sales of vehicles powered by both electricity and petrol in
Japan and the other areas experienced rises, with the former going up nearly sevenfold
to almost 350 000 and the latter increasing about twofold to just over 100 000. On the
other hand, that of the USA grew to a peak of 350 000 in 2007, before declining to
approximately 270000 in 2009.
