A training session can be quite versatile depending on the group of learners and the trainer

involved, so there are tons of possibilities for different situations that may crop up during the
sessions. Here are the 5 different situations that according to me are more likely to top the
list: 1. Unable to understand and relate to the trainer due to lack of motivation 2.
Disagreement regarding certain points taught leading to disruption in the session 3.
Language barrier resulting into a bored audience and ineffective session 4. Unavailability or
breakdown of the right medium/technology to help explain the content 5. A natural/manmade
disaster or a medical emergency Disagreement regarding certain points taught leading to
disruption in the session: This is a quite common scenario occurring more often than one
would think. It's normal for people to think differently, and as trainers we need to accept their
opinions and arguments respectfully. The foremost thing to do is patiently listen to the point
they are making- this provides them with the feeling of being heard and respected. The
trainees might make a fair point based on their own experience so instead of completely
disregarding their view, make them explain that, yes, they are indeed correct, but in a
different situation, that might not have been the case. This helps others to keep their points
as well and at the same time not disrupt the class. Unavailability or breakdown of the right
medium/technology to help explain the content: Technology can stop working at any time of
the day, such is its nature! So, a trainer should never be completely dependent on something
that might stop working suddenly. There should always be a contingency plan, and in such a
case, physical or handmade materials come in handy to give the same effect. Trainers
should always be ready with a backup plan by creating materials beforehand. Also, if the
medium or technology couldn't have been arranged prior to the event, there is no use of
mentioning it to the trainees. It will only make them lose their trust in the trainer for their
