Title: The Name of Jesus

Author: Shaquille Blackwood

Date: February 2, 2023

The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with all who reads this article:

The faith of many believers have been shipwrecked due to this new "Sacred Name" leaven that
has infiltrated the body of Christ, causing many of the sheep to be scattered and casting many
congregations into the abyss.
Initially, I was going to make this article very technical, atomizing the Hebrew language, the
Masoretic texts, the Septuagint LXX etc., and the way it all affects our current bible translations,
our understanding of our Lord and most importantly the way in which we interact with our
creator and redeemer.

I've decided however, to take a more simplistic approach. One that gets to the point without the
distraction of too many foreign languages. My hope is that this article will help to strengthen
your convictions and build your faith in the only potentate, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Finally, I suggest that you read 1 Cor 1:17-31 before diving into this article, for on this authority
do I base the arguments herein. It would also be helpful for you to follow along with the scripture
references placed throughout the article. God bless you all!

● Some Glory in the fact that they know a little Hebrew and a little Greek.

A Greek lecturer and scholar that I’m currently studying under, Bill Mounce, said to the
class at the beginning of the lecture that it’s better to know no biblical (Koine) Greek,
than to know a little bit and think you know a lot. He says that it’s much more damaging
in such cases. So if we decide to take up Koine Greek studies we have to see it through
to the end.

Personally, it’s not easy, there are so many layers to it, as it is with Hebrew. Yet, so many
random people act as though they are scholars in these areas because they heard
someone on Youtube say something fancy.

Take for example this English sentence: MY NAME IS SHAQUILLE BLACKWOOD

Now let’s try to visualize that in Hebrew: M NM S SHQLL BLCKVVD
In addition to this, Hebrew is written from right to left; take a look at the final form of this
simple English statement: DVVKCLB LLQHS S MN M

Now, because Hebrew is traditionally written without vowels, it takes very skilled scribes
working together to accurately translate what is written, which, if done by the unskilled
and unlearned, can cause errors in translation.
Let’s look again at the same statement: M NM S SHQLL BLCKVVD
With random vowels added: ME NUMA US SHOQALLU BLECKVUD (This is absolute
nonsense.)
What’s worse is making a sensible statement from the additional vowels, but it’s far from
what the original author intended. See example at the end of this section.

To signify how a word’s vowels should sound in Hebrew, the Niqqud system was
introduced. Native Hebrew speakers don’t need the Niqqud to read Hebrew, as the
Niqqud serves as training wheels for non-native speakers of the language and Hebrew
speaking school children.

End of Section examples:

‫) אדם‬MD’ - Root Word(

‫) ָאדָ ם‬Adam - Mankind(
‫) אֶ ד ֹם‬Edom - Red(
_________________________
‫) יהוה‬YHVH/YHWH) TETRAGRAMMATON

‫) יְהָֹוה‬YHVaH/YHWaH(
‫) י ְהָֹֹוה‬YeHoVaH(
‫) יְהָֹוה‬YeHVaH(
There are a lot more variations of Niqqud placings that can produce results like:
Yahweh, Jehovah, Jahovah, Jehowah, Jeheveh, Yahowah and so on…

What you will come to find is that the name of God is so sacred and complex that
we know it but still are not sure how to truly say it. As a result there are a lot of
schisms even within the so-called “Sacred Name” movement.

● The Jews still require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
The sad reality about people glorying in the fact that they know the “Hebrew” for words
such as Y’Shua and YHVH etc. is ridiculous and foolish (2 Cor 11:16-28 & 2 Cor 10:17).
There are a lot of Hebrew speaking Jews who can read, write and say the name Y’Shua
much better than all of us English speakers. Yet, they have not placed their faith in the
risen King (The object of the name). A “Book” in English is the same object in Spanish
(Libro) and “Buch” in German.
Furthermore, a lot of characters in the Old Testament bore the same name
“Yehoshua”/”Yeshua”/”Joshua” which all means “YHVH is Salvation”, which shows again
that the OBJECT of the name is important. In Hebrews 4:8, Joshua from the Old
Testament, Moses’ successor, is transliterated as (“Ἰησους” “ee-hey-soos”) Jesus in the
New Testament. “For if Jesus had given them rest, then he would not afterward have
spoken of another day.” (Heb 4:8) This shows that this “Yehoshua”/Jesus did not give
them rest.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of
living water. (John 7:38)

There are a lot of people calling the name “Yehoshua” perfectly in the Hebrew tongue,
but they are not believing on the Son of God as the scripture prescribes, while there are
many who call his saving name in their respective tongue (English, French, Arabic etc.)
with sound faith and receive his salvation. (For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:8) Placing emphasis on the proper
pronunciation or the lack thereof of an Hebrew word for salvation or being accepted by
the Lord in any way is works based, unbiblical, and demonic.

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but
their heart is far from me. (Matt 15:8)

Everyone heard in his own language the Galileans speak the wonderful works of God.
(Acts 2:8-11)

Languages in Acts 2: Parthians, Medes, Elam, Babylonian, Judaean, Cappadocian,

Pontus, Asian, Phrygian, Pamphylian, Egyptian, Libyan, Cyrenian, Roman, Cretian and
Arabian.

The subject, the wonderful works of [God, Elohim, Theos, Allah, Deus, Khoda, Gott and
God [in sign language] etc. ] does not change despite the language in which it was said.

To summarize this section, despite the language spoken, the subject does not change. A
name is much more than the letters used to make the syllabic sounds. A name also
entails the character of the subject, the truth held within the reputation of and stories
about the subject, and the promises made by the subject.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built
up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with
thanksgiving. BEWARE lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after
the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him
dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are COMPLETE IN HIM, which is
the head of all principality and power. (Col 2:6-10)

That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God
is made unto us WISDOM, and RIGHTEOUSNESS, and SANCTIFICATION, and
REDEMPTION: That according to as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the
Lord. (1 Cor 1:29-31)

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false
teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the
Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And MANY SHALL
FOLLOW THEIR PERNICIOUS WAYS; by reason of whom the WAY OF TRUTH SHALL
BE EVIL SPOKEN OF. (2 Peter 2:1)
