Adjectives to
describe
films
Big-budget
Involving a lot of money.

E.g. He started his acting

Hollywood films.
far-fetched
Very unlikely to be true, and
difficult to believe

E.g. Her story about being


chased away from school by
wolves seems pretty far-
fetched.
gripping
Interesting or exciting that it
holds your attention completely.

E.g. I found the book so


gripping that I couldn't put it
down.
ground-breaking
Original.

E.g. His latest movie is interesting,


but not ground-breaking.
mediocre
Not good enough. Just acceptable.
E.g. The film's plot is predictable
and the acting is mediocre.
Two-dimensional
If you describe fictional
characters as two-dimensional,
you are critical of them because
they are very simple and not
realistic enough to be taken
seriously.
E.g. I found the characters very
two-dimensional, not to say dull.
Well-Rounded
Refers to a film that excels in
multiple aspects, resulting in a
balanced and satisfying overall
experience for the audience.

E.g. She is a well-rounded actress,


succeeding in both comedic and
dramatic roles with equal talent and
versatility.
