jenance Schedule Maintenance Schedule ‘The maintenance schedule contains a summary of the maintenance and inspection werk, down to the major overhaul of the turbocharger. ‘A major overhaul of the turbocharger must be carried out latest after 24 000 to 30 000 operating hours. ‘After each major overhaul, which best is carried out with a due engine service, the maintenance schedule starts trom the beginning again. ‘Amajor overhaul includes the disassembly of the complete turbocharger {or inspection of the actual condition, thorough cleaning and a check of all parts/components. ZX Attention! In order to ensure the operational safety of the turbo the engine, maintenance work is to be performed a ble on schedule. aa Any exceeding of the upper time limit is not J. deptation of the Main- nance Schedule aard 3.1 Maintenance Schedule - Turbocharger on the Two-stroke Engine No. |Brief description of the maintenance work Operating hours ii Time /h Personnel [Inspection intervals (during operation) 901 [Check turbocharger for unusual noise and vibrations 908 |Check turbocharger and system pipes for leakages, (charge air, exhaust gas, lube oil) (905 | Check all the fixing screws, casing screws and pipe connections for tight fit [Maintenance intervals (during operation) 911 |Clean the turbine ~ Dry cleaning [if provided) 913 | Clean the turbine - Wet cleaning (if provided) 915 |Ciean the compressor {in operation) 917 |Clean the air iter {if provided) 951 | Mejor overhaul every oe 24,000 ... 30,000 operating hours: Remove, clean and check all bocharger. Turbocharger 4.4 General We recommend to clean the turbocharger egularly during operation, prevents the build-up of heavy deposits the rotating parts and keeps the turbo- harger in the best running condition be- een manual overhauls. intervals between cleaning during ope- tion should be determined from the degree fouling of the turbocharger in the specific. nt. is because the tendency to form deposits depends, among other things, ‘on the combustion properties of the ac- tual fuel oil. intervals between cleaning are fo Cleaning of Turbocharger and Air Cooler 12 Ch ning the Turbine Side Dry Cleaning (Plate 70612) Intervals between cleaning: 24-50 hours of operation. The cleaning is effected by injecting a spe- cified volume of crushed nut shells or simi- lar. The “grain size” is to be about 1.5 mm. Since the cleaning is mechanical, the high- est efficiency is obtained at full load, and cleaning should not be carried out below half load. Garry out the cleaning according to the in- struction given on the “instruction plate” lo- cated at the turbocharger, see Plate 70612. See also Vol. Il, Maintenance’, Chapter 910.
