Past Simple Irregular

The past simple tense is used to talk about completed actions in the past. For regular verbs, the past
simple is formed by adding -ed to the base form of the verb (e.g. walk → walked, talk → talked).

However, irregular verbs have different forms in the past tense and do not follow the regular -ed
pattern. Here are some common irregular verbs and their past simple forms:

 go → went

 see → saw

 eat → ate

 do → did

 have → had

 be → was/were

Note that some irregular verbs have the same base form and past simple form, such as put, cut, and set.

To use these verbs in the past simple tense, simply replace the base form with the past simple form in a
sentence. For example:

 Yesterday, I (go) to the park.

 I (see) a movie last night.

 She (eat) breakfast this morning.

 They (do) their homework after school.

 We (have) a great time at the party.

 It (be) sunny yesterday, but today it (be) cloudy.

Practice using irregular verbs in the past simple tense in your own sentences to become more familiar
with their forms and usage.
