LAWN CARE SERVICES

Target market: This business idea focus mainly on residential homes which also include customers that
are moving into new houses. Toronto is the most populated city in Canada, situated in the Southern
Ontario province with the population of 2,794,356. By 2035, experts expect to see a further 1 million
residents settle in the Toronto region. Single-detached houses account for 23.3% of the residential
buildings in Toronto. Apartments make up 46.7% of the Toronto housing market. Meanwhile, the
median home value here is $900,000 and the average figure sits at $1,131,000. Of all the properties in
Toronto, 2 bedrooms units include 334,320 (the highest share) and 1 bedroom units have 330,340
(second-highest share). Notably, when it comes to the condition of these homes, most of them require
regular maintenance (70.5%) and minor repairs (23%).

Types of services: My proposed Lawn care business will start to offer the listed services to our potential
customers (that is, customer's wants), which includes:

1. Yard cleanup; The removal of garden waste, such as branches, leaves, stems, and other plant
materials that can ruin the beauty and appeal.

2. Trimming; Overgrow trees and hedges can make the outdoor space look messy and difficult to use. By
cutting back the overgrown areas, can make the space more appealing and encourage the clients to
spend more time in their outdoor space.

3. Leaf Removal; Fall and spring are the seasons when leaves are most likely to fall to the ground, giving
lawn care services such as leaf removal regularly.

4. Lawn mowing; Hedging and trimming are often combined with lawn mowing.

5. Pruning; A pruning process refers to cutting off dead leaves from a plant after they have decayed and
turned brown. I ensure plants reach their full potentials by removing dried and stray parts.

6. Incentives; Giving incentives to my customers, through terms and conditions will make my business to
be unique and standout from the major competitors in Toronto. For instance, “patronize me 2-3 times
to benefit 15% reduction off total charge.

List of competitors in Toronto: Although we have many lawn service businesses in Toronto, but the
below listed four are the major competitor.

(a) PZ lawn and Garden.

(b) Nutri Lawn of Toronto.

(C) Strategic Tree Services.

(d) Imperial Landscaping.


In conclusion, there are varieties of lawn care service businesses, but my focus is majorly on the above
listed services for residential homes in Toronto, and with the introduction of incentives, there is high
chance of patronage from customers and referral request of regular services.
