Who is Ted Bundy?

Ted Bundy, in full Theodore Robert Bundy, was Born in November, 1946 in Burlington,
Vermont U.S.A. He was known for being an American serial killer who kidnapped,
raped, and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly
earlier. He confessed to 36 murders but nobody really knows how many had been
committed, At age 42, he was sent to the death chamber on the morning of January
24, 1989. When asked if he had any last words he said, “Jim (Coleman, his defense
attorney) and Fred (Lawrence, his minister) I'd like you to give my love to my
family and friends.”

Growing up as a child, Ted Bundy experienced neglect, mental/physical abuse, lack

of discipline, and absence of parental care. These factors created one of the most
notorious serial killers in history. He was a social outcast and didn’t have many
friends which made him feel insecure and eventually caused him to fall into a
semipermanent, deep depression early in his life. The possible direct trauma of
sexual abuse is a huge factor that contributes to the aversion to intimacy, and
desire to sexually abuse others in adulthood. Bundy’s experiences scarred him for
life, and desensitized him to sexual and physical violence.

"There is no protection against the minds of influences that are loose in a society
that tolerates Pornography”---Ted Bundy. I disagree with his statement but although
I disagree, I also agree with it. Ted Bundy is right that any place that allows
pornography must deal with the consequences of it such as porn addiction and higher
rates of sexual violence. HOWEVER, just because pornography is legal in a society
does not mean it can be used as an excuse to commit crimes like Ted Bundy did. So
while I agree that pornography can create problems in the community, I disagree
with him using it as an excuse for the horrible things he did.

“You’re going to kill me, and that will protect society from me. But there are
many, many more people who are addicted to pornography and you are doing nothing
about that.”--Ted Bundy Nowadays, society, people, and the media have changed over
the years. Pornography addiction is still a really big problem today. Porn
addiction refers to a person becoming emotionally dependent on pornography to the
point that it interferes with their daily life, relationships, and ability to
function. I totally disagree with Ted’s statement. Nowadays, there are several
types of treatment for addiction to pornography or a Hyper-sexual disorder such as
medication, psycho therapy, medication assisted treatments, and support groups.

Ted Bundy is known as a rapist , and according to research, Ted had an IQ

(Intelligence Quotient) of 136 and he had the face of a good looking man. Women
repeatedly fell for the same thing that got them killed. Ted Bundy once said “They
wouldn’t be stereotypes necessarily. But they would be reason able facsimiles to
women as a class. A class not of women, pre se, but a class that has almost been
created through the mythology of women and how they are used as objects. " I
disagree due to the fact that it’s wrong saying “women are used as objects”. The
sexual objectification of women involes them being viewed primarily as an object of
male sexual desire, rather than as a whole person. The reason why Ted Bundy said
“women, they are used as objects” is because he thought of women like objects
instead of people which made it easier for him to do terrible things to them. It's
a lot easier to do bad things to people if you think of them as an object instead
of a person.

In the year 1974, Bundy was driving when he was pulled over and police were able to
arrest Bundy after learning of what he had in his car; this included crowbars and a
facemask. He was condemned and was sentenced to a 15-year jail term. After a couple
of years, Bundy was somehow able to escape from prison twice, both in 1977. The
second time, Bundy, who was acting as his lawyer in the case for murdering a
Colorado woman, managed to escape out the car window but was caught later that
week. Then in December of that year, police confirmed that Bundy escaped through an
opening in the celling of his jail cell. They later found out that he had attacked
four girls in a sorority house at Florida State University. He killed two of them.
Ted Bundy’s last killing occurred _on February 9th_ when he captured and murdered
12-year-old Kimberly Leach. This would be the last time Bundy would ever kill
again. Bundy would then be pulled over by police that February. The Death Penalty
also really hurts the human psyche for the guards who have to perform the act. The
people work there spend maybe eight to ten hours with them, and then they have to
watch this person lay on a gurney or sit in a chair and watch the life get taken
out of them. No one should be able to choose who lives and dies, and it is quite
hypocritical to kill an inmate after they were convicted for killing someone. With
someone like Ted Bundy, it seems reasonable to just get rid of him. Although I
really question how whether or not the people that allow capital punishment are
also "monsters"

Whether or not there is a concrete answer for why he murdered so many women will
forever be a question. Ted Bundy had a troubled relationship with his mother (who
he thought was his sister for many years), his childhood living with his violent
grandfather, and his inability to relate socially with others. Watching his "dad"
abuse others could have very well led Ted Bundy to become violent as he grew older.
Due to this, I think Ted Bundy began living in a fantasy world as a child. What
better way for a boy to escape the feelings than to fantasize about being all
powerful and controlling his own destiny? It is perfectly normal for young children
to turn their painful memories of abuse, disappointment, humiliation, etc... into
fantasies to comfort themselves. For Ted Bundy, though, his fantasies had turned
into sexual possession, and possibly an unquenchable addiction.
