Prescott College’s Ph.D. in Sustainability Education program welcomes applicants


from various disciplinary fields. Candidates considered seriously for admission will
have a strong academic background, a demonstrated commitment to sustainability
education, and alignment with Prescott College’s environmental and social justice
values. Additionally, they will have prior professional, scholarly, and research
experience in an area of sustainability education.

To complete your application for admission, please submit your list of references, current
resume or CV, personal statement, and transcripts. Supporting document details are as follows.

● List of References: Applicants must submit a list of two academic or


professional references. Once the application is submitted, the references will

receive an email inviting them to complete a few questions to address your

capability to complete graduate-level work. The list must contain the writer’s

contact information. You can upload your reference's contact information on

your applicant portal.

● Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae: Upload your essay on your applicant


portal.

● Personal Statement*: The statement of purpose is the opportunity to


showcase one’s scholarly, professional, and research interests for the

admissions committee. Please address the below prompts, and adhere to the

style guidelines below.

■ A Ph.D. is a significant undertaking, and our faculty and staff are


here to support the learners. That said, it also requires individual

tenacity. How would you plan to sustain and complete this

academic milestone? What attributes or ideologies would you

draw from?

​Style Requirements: The essay should be typed, double-spaced, and no more than
1,500 words, not including a title page or reference list. Plan to write for an
academic audience, and include recently published scholarly references.* Please
use a current citation format utilized in educational fields, such as the APA 7th
edition.

​*Note: Upon review of your application materials, the committee may request
additional application support materials. These may include items such as
undergraduate transcripts and/or examples of previous scholarly work. Please
upload your personal statement on your applicant portal.

● Official Transcripts: Official college transcripts showing all graduate-level,


post-secondary coursework completed will be required prior to beginning

courses with Prescott College. Official transcripts can be submitted

electronically by the issuing institution via Parchment or through the mail at:

● All transcripts submitted by mail must arrive in an official sealed envelope


from the issuing institution.

● While unofficial transcripts may be submitted for the admissions committee to


begin a preliminary evaluation of an application, official transcripts will be

required to provide an official offer of admission.
