I have been working at Peduli Anak Foundation for 1 and a half years. Started as a volunteer, and
I slowly become a permanent employee, that responsible for marketing and teaching. The first
time I had come to this foundation, I saw that the children are smart, yet they have not known
how to study cooperatively and properly. I began to teach elementary about color by using a
song, and they did not listen to my instruction at all. I had to think hard about how to make them
learn better, and I started giving cooperative and group-based tasks to them. For instance, I
asked them to make a group of three and gave them colorful straws and an instruction on how
to make a tower based on the color. Since they are special needs children, working in a group is
such a difficult task for them. Moreover, I started to consult with the director of the Foundation
about upcoming methods for them. We agree that the kids should be learning through
cooperative and group-based tasks, to develop how they interact and treat other children. Since
the children's background is street children and family violence, being selfish has been their
character. As a result, The implementation of creative, innovative, and cooperative learning
methods can enhance their social behavior slowly and the way they think psychologically in
learning.
