Sacraments:

- Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist


- These are the first three sacraments that one receives
- They are known as the Christian initiations
- We must receive all 3 sacraments before we are considered as full members of the
Church.

- Penance and Anointing the sick


-These sacraments is to help us build a better connection with God
- Anointing of the sick help a person become ready for the after life
- These sacraments are known as the Healing

-Marriage and Holy Orders


- These sacraments help us to teach God’s plan to others
- God created us so we must teach our families and create babies.
- These sacraments are called the Mission

Five words connected to Baptism:
-Plunge;
Plunge means to put into something and when we are baptised we are plunged into water.
- Community of Faith;
When baptised one enters a community of faith.
-Unite;
One becomes united with Christ after baptism.
-Original Sin;
Original Sin was started by Adam and Eve after not listening to God. Baptism gets rid of
Original Sin.
-Emerge;
Rising out of the water symbolises us rising with Christ on the last day.
-Entering;
Entering a new life with christ once baptised
-Permanently;
One cannot be unbaptised.

Matthew CHAPTER 3 1-17


Important words:
-Repent:
One cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven without repenting for their sins.
- In the Adam and Eve story we rejected God’s love.
- Baptism tells us that God is willing to forgive us.
-The first creation story tells us how God created the universe in 6 days and rested on the
7th
-Prophet:
Prophets deliver messages on behalf of God
- We also call them the messengers of God
- They are mainly in the old testament
- The new testament fulfils the new testament

Baptism as Identity:
Baptism allows us to be seen as catholics and children of God.
- We belong to the christian community.

Baptism As Belonging:
Baptism helps us connect to the christian church. When we partake in a religious activity we
get a sense of belonging. You need to make an effort to belong to christianity. To have a
sense of belonging you need to take part in Religious events. Baptism gives us our identity
but is only a small part of our belonging to christian community.

Origin:
Catholics believe that their origin is God because he created us in his image.
God’s attributes or the things that he gifted to us are part of our nature that we inherited.
- God has given catholics a soul which is unique

What we need to know about for the test:


- What is the history of Baptism
- First three sacraments
- How is it connected (baptism) to original sin?
- What is the message of Adam and Eve?
- Read the Acts of Apostle (Lesson-3 BAPTISM)

Important Phrase:
To die with Christ, we must Rise with Christ -CCC 1005 = Baptism

Eucharist:
Christ instituted the Church on the last supper.
The Eucharist is a ritual
- The Eucharist is usually at the end of Mass
