Job description – Project manager

Purpose:

 To describe the role and responsibilities of the project manager for large and medium
size CAPEX projects, and to define the requirements to fill the position.
 To define the main tasks of the project manager position, as well as his secondary
duties.
 To describe the knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications needed for the position.
 To define the project manager position within the hierarchy of the Group's organization.

Procedure:

 The steering committee and the project manager shall use this job description, adapt
and/or complete it for a given project. The document must be reviewed and approved by
the steering committee before it is used for the project.
 The job description is distributed to the steering committee, project manager, and key
project personnel.

Tips for use:

 Use the existing job description as starting point.

 Adapt the content to suit the specific needs of the project.
 Start each sentence with an action verb ("Operates …", "Trains …")
 Avoid using vague terms such as "assists" and “facilitates.”
 Describe the type of decisions the employee will be expected to make, and identify the
level of authority over personnel and in financial matters.
