How to Access your IMO publications without an Internet connection

The new IMO Bookshelf is a browser-based hybrid software, meaning that it runs in web browsers, yet
behaves like desktop software, so there is no need to download or install anything.
However, there may be times where you do not have access to the Internet, such as when a vessel is out
at sea and when internet connections might be unreliable, so it is possible to download your purchased
IMO publications to use offline.

In order to use your IMO publications offline, you will need to download your purchased publications to
your browser cache. If you are unclear how to do this, please see page 7 of the IMO Bookshelf User
Manual, which describes how to do this.
Once you have downloaded your IMO publications to your cache, you will need to click on ‘Offline
Mode’ to continue.

The following page will display:

Select the offline link and download the WitherbyConnect App

Once installed, the following screen will appear. When you are offline (i.e. not connected to the internet
via a Wi-Fi, ethernet or cell phone connection), you will be able to click on the ‘+Index’ button to see a
list of your purchased publications.
NB: If you are still connected to the internet, the ‘+Index’ button will be greyed-out and you will not
be able to access your publications.

You may now proceed to use the publication normally.

Migrating to the new IMO Bookshelf or Transfer the existing IMO/Witherby Books V5.13
Migration can only take place once you have purchased a new e-reader on or after 1 May 2022, as
making a new purchase will automatically trigger the creation of your new IMO Bookshelf account.
Once you have your new IMO Bookshelf account, please confirm in order to arrange for your existing
products to be migrated to your new IMO Bookshelf account.
The diagram below shows how the process works.
