ABSTRACT (ABSTRACT)

South Australian ice cream company Golden North will be upgrading its ice cream production line thanks to newly
announced funding from the South Australian Government s Regional Development Fund.
Golden North General Manager, Peter Adamo, said that this Regional Development grant meant the company was
confident of its future in [Laura], with the capacity to focus on new high-value product lines, and ensure
employment for their staff.
The reduction in energy costs will be about $143,000 a year, and we ll save around 569 tonnes of CO2 in
greenhouse gas emissions as well, so our ice cream, which is already palm oil free, will be even greener and
cleaner.

South Australian ice cream company Golden North will be upgrading its ice cream production line thanks to newly
announced funding from the South Australian Government s Regional Development Fund.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, and Regional Development Gail Gago said the $200,000 grant to the
much-loved company would provide it with better infrastructure and production options into the future.
The company can now progress with their refrigeration and plant upgrades, ensuring greater capability and
flexibility for their operations, Ms Gago said.
By funding this new, more efficient, refrigeration equipment the Government is acting on its priority of Premium
Food and Wine from our Clean Environment and giving Golden North both flexibility and capacity for future growth.

Golden North is a fantastic company that is widely respected in the local community, and the growth of their
operations will have a significant positive economic and social impact throughout the Mid North region, not just
within Laura.
This government recognises that vibrant, sustainable regional economies are the backbone of our State, and
through funding such as this, we are committed to supporting growth.
Golden North General Manager, Peter Adamo, said that this Regional Development grant meant the company was
confident of its future in Laura, with the capacity to focus on new high-value product lines, and ensure employment
for their staff.
The efficiencies we ll gain from the new equipment, and the associated reduced costs, will aid us in securing the
future of the company in Laura, and of current employees, Mr Adamo said.
This equipment gives us greater flexibility in developing higher-value product lines that will bring greater returns.
Our existing refrigeration equipment is ageing and relatively inefficient; the new equipment will reduce the
hardening time of our ice cream from as long as 83 hours down to just 24.
The reduction in energy costs will be about $143,000 a year, and we ll save around 569 tonnes of CO2 in
greenhouse gas emissions as well, so our ice cream, which is already palm oil free, will be even greener and
cleaner.
