Basic Radio, cannot find wanted station

Customer concern
The radio automatically jumps over to other
radio stations.
It is not possible to find a radio station.

Possible causes
The radio tuner settings are changed intentionally
or unintentionally.
1. RDS setting.
2. REG setting.
3. TA setting.
4. PTY setting.
5. HCUT setting.
6. SENS setting.
7. PRTSCAN setting.
8. BANDSCAN setting.

For the DAF Basic radio operating instructions, see the DAF Basic radio manual.
Driver's manual "Basic radio"

Action

RDS
Check the RDS function.
Switch the RDS ON or OFF.
RDS ON: The radio uses all different
frequencies for the same RDS supported radio
station. As a result, the radio station stays the
same even if the vehicle drives into a different
region with different radio station frequencies.
RDS OFF: The radio stays on the same
frequency even if the vehicle drives into a
different region. Radio station reception can
get worse and there is a chance that another
radio station is received.
RDS is enabled by default.

REG
Check the REG function.
Switch the REG ON or OFF.
At certain times, some radio stations divided
their programs into regional programs
providing different content. The activated REG

function prevents the device from switching to

alternative frequencies of the radio station that
transmits different program content.
REG is disabled by default and is
switched ON or OFF separately in the
menu.
The REG ON or OFF setting only takes
effect if the RDS function is active.

TA
Check the TA function.
Switch the TA ON or OFF.
As soon as the radio receives a traffic
announcement, the radio automatically
switches to the traffic announcement.
If you previously selected a radio station that
does not broadcast traffic announcements, the
system automatically tunes into a radio station
that does broadcast traffic announcements.
This makes sure that the regional traffic
announcements are received at all times
regardless of the selected operating mode and
frequency.
If traffic announcements are enabled, the
radio remains activated in the background
even if the CD player or AUX system is
activated.

PTY
Check the PTY function.
Switch the PTY ON or OFF.
The PTY function selects radio stations of a
particular program type. Examples of these
program types can be:
'Travel'
'Weather'
'News'
'Jazz'
'Pop'
PTY searching is only available if the
'PTY' is switched ON and if 'AUTOSEEK'
or 'BANDSCAN' is selected.

HCUT
Check the HCUT function.
Switch the HCUT 'OFF' or '1' or '2'.
In case of weak radio reception, the HCUT
function results in improved sound quality. If
the radio reception interference is present, the
interference level is automatically reduced.

SENS
Check the SENS function.
Switch the SENS 'LO' or 'DX'.
Select strong stations 'LO' with low sensitivity
or select weak stations 'DX' with high
sensitivity.

PRTSCAN
Check the PRTSCAN function.
Switch the PRTSCAN '<' or '>'.
A radio station sample stored in the current
memory bank is played for about 10 s. At the
same time, the display shows the current
frequency or the station name.
The function scans and stores the best
received radio stations and plays them for
about 10 s each.

BANDSCAN
Check the BANDSCAN function.
Switch the BANSCAN '<' or '>'.
A radio stations sample in the current
waveband is played for about 10 s. At the
same time, the display shows the frequency
for the radio station.
Changing the frequency in increments is only available if the 'MANSEEK' setting is selected.
