ACTIVITY #5: ETHICAL THEORIES APPLICATION
CASE:
"A nurse assigned to care for a patient who is  confirmed to be a NCOV-19
positive,  might have strong fears about contracting the disease and transmitting it
to her husband and three young children. Is it ethical for the nurse to refuse the
assignment?"
Use each ethical theories to answer the question:
   as in...      Utilitarianism
                   Natural law
                   Deontological theory
                   Virtue ethics
                    Justice

According to a utilitarian, it is certain that the nurse is aware of potential effects
from her activities. The extent is one of the Felicific Calculation (Jeremy Bentham)
criteria that is used to evaluate an activity. One can argue that the nurse must
decline the assignment because it is known how many people are susceptible to
experiencing pain using this indicator as support. As a result, there is a high
likelihood that her loved ones may get the illness if she does, which will cause
them pain. Knowing that the nurse is a mother, in fact, Since there is a significant
risk to her family, she undoubtedly thinks it is wrong to take this action. Therefore,
it is ethical for the nurse to decline the task in order to prevent pain.

When I was in her shoes, my ethical perspective on this matter was that I would
prefer to refuse my assignment to care for a patient who tested positive for
Covid-19 because my family's health depends on it and because I have three
young children and do not want them to become infected with the virus as a
result of me. When I accepted my assignment, I just put my family in danger since
I was worried I would bring the virus home to their family. I will chose them above
my patient because they are more important to me. Therefore, I won't accept it
and will instead stay with my family to avoid spreading the disease there. The
nurse has the legal right to decline to care for patients during the coronavirus
pandemic, but the public believes that all healthcare workers should put their lives
in danger to help patients. It would be my duty as a nurse and a lifesaver to
accept the assignment to care for a patient who tested positive for the Corona
virus. To save my patient, I can do nothing but the right and good thing.
