DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PHARMACIST

1. Ensures the quality of medicines supplied to patients and within the law.
2. Ensures that the medicines prescribed to patients are suitable.
3. Advise patients about medicines, including how to take them, what reactions may occur
and answering patients' questions.

4. Supervise the medicines supply chain and ensure pharmacy premises and systems are
fit for purpose.

5. Advise other healthcare professionals like nurse and doctors about safe and effective
medicines use, and safe and secure supply of medicines.

6. Respond to patients' symptoms and advise on medicines for sale in pharmacy.


7. Provides services to patients, such as smoking cessation, blood pressure measurement
and cholesterol management.

8. Supervise the production and preparation of medicines and assessments of quality of


medicines before they are supplied to patients from pharmaceutical manufacturers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PHARMACY ASSISTANT (PA)
FDCDocument#2 Effectivity Date: JULY 2021

1. Give general assistance with daily pharmacy activities.

2. Take prescriptions from patients in person and over the phone.

3. Measure and mix drugs according to prescriptions.

4. Package, label and dispense medications.

5. Check inventory weekly and restock drugs and other items.

6. Check for expired medications and discard it properly.

7. Help customers find what they need or send them to the pharmacist for patient
counseling.

8. Write letters and memos, prepare receipts and invoices, and file orders.
