Top Dead Center (TDC)
1. Use the proper turn tool depending on the clearance
available in your application: • 380003118 – Installed in the mounting hole for the engine starter motor. • 380002822 – Installed in the threaded hole at bot- tom of the flywheel housing. 2. Rotate the crankshaft counter-clockwise until the (D) hole (the hole with two notches) appears through the window (1) in the bottom of the flywheel housing.

3. Continue to rotate the crankshaft counter-clockwise
until the first mark (B) Figure 1 for cylinder 1 and 6 appears through the window (1) in the bottom of the flywheel housing.

4. Pin the flywheel through the crankshaft sensor hole
with tool 380000150 . NOTE: Depending on the engine configuration, the crankshaft sensor could be located on either side of the engine. See Figures 3 and 4 5. Cylinder #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke when: • The hole marked with one reference marks can be seen through the inspection window. • The rocker arms are loose on #1 cylinder with the exhaust closing and intake opening on #6 cylinder. NOTE: If the rocker arms are not loose on cylinder #1, rotate the crankshaft 360 ° counter-clockwise to obtain RAIL13SBA0076AA 3
