A case discussion in any lecture is simply a session where is involve


discussing a scenario being happened in real time or may be fictional relating to
subject matter or topic in question. Main reason for a case discussion would to relate
principles or the content of a lecture to the relating scenario. In any class discussion
session, the relationship between the students and lecturer is vital in order for the
learning session to be efficient. Both parties may successfully discuss a case if both
parties tend to engage in an explicit contract at the very beginning of the course or
module.

In preparing for a case for discussion, there are certain steps need to be
taken before commencing into the discussion session. Firstly is preparation. A case
to be brought in for discussion is need to be analysed in detail so that it suits the
discussion can could be related to the subject matter in question. It is always
advisable to adopt a real case scenario rather the creating a fictional one, in order to
invoke germination of mind during the discussion. A case brought to a class
discussion should have some relevancy to the subject matter. For instance, in class
where the students learning about law relation to the Federal Constitution, real cases
in relation to constitutional crisis is required in order to have clear understanding on
how the crisis arise and what would be the remedy.

Another point in preparation for case discussion, one would consider to have
structured question in place. This is to foster and guide the class participant to
explore further on the case given. At the same time, it encourages active class
participation and collective learning. Instead explaining the content, question and
session answer would be more effective in a way class participant may to absorb
more information rather than normal reading or lecture. In a class discussion, a
lecturer should anticipate the students’ reaction. This is where key facts and issues
are listed out, situation is outlined, lecturer should have alternative analysis the able
