- ‘The description of each icenario indicates how many Tombstone ards are used in ft Shuffle all the Tombstone cards and separate the requested amount, placing the vest back in the box without looking at their content. Then distribute the cards on the Spaces indicated on the map, with the text face down. < REVEALING TOMBSTONE caRDS $> Revealing a Tombstone card works very much like opening 3 door or using 2 portal. During the Movement part of a Hero's activation, he may choose to spend 1 Movement Point to reveal : ' Tombstone card that i in his Space. The player takes the card from the board, read it, executes what the card's text indicates and then discards the card. Unlike an Exploration token, 2 Hero is not obligated to reveal.a Tombstone card that's in his Space. It ako doein't block Line of Sight or Movement in any way. A Tombstone card can be revealed even ifthere’s an Enemy sharing the Space with the active Hero, and revealing it does not trigger a Guard Reaction in Clote Monsters, <2 TOMBSTONE EFFECTS §> The effects described on a Tombstone card must be executed by the active player immediately when it i revealed (unless some factor makes it impossible to be executed, in which case it has no effect) The vast majority of the carch benefit the active player one way or another. ACTIVATING MONSTERS Several Tombstone cords allow the player to attivate a Monster on the board belonging to 2 specific Monster Ties. The player selects the Monster he withes to activate snd performs its Movement and/or its Attack, in any order, following: that Monster normal stats and’ choosing any Hero as the primary target. While the Monster is Being controlled by the player. tt doesn't count as a Hero from his Guild. It cannot accomplich Quests, and if it Kile anybody, the credit. goes te. the game as nual, notto the active player m “ aN EXPANDING THE UPGRADE DECKS 5) This expamion contain: new Upgrade cards for the Upgrade deck: atiall levels. Theie new cards should be mixed with thowe from the core box to create expanded Upgrade decks When dealing out the Starting Equipment. all playen receive the 5 normal Starter cards, plos one copy of the new Starter card "Sickle": However, each Guild allowed to Keep only 3 Starter «ards 1 exch player must choose | ofthe Starter cards to diccard For the other Upgrade decks, players can simply add the 6 new cards to the normal ones for each level, creating larger decks. To ensure 3 better balance of the carck, however, itt recommended that playes remove 1 copy of each of the following carck from each deck when adding the naw cards from Beyond the Grave LEVEL Trusty Slade, Bleeder, Crescent Bow, Wind Blxt, Cleave, Gre Beater LEVEL 2 Decimator, Smashface, Hate, Heart of the Unicorn, Blazing Shot, Knight’ Plate. The figure of such a Monster has a baie so large that it occupies a whole Space all by itself, and so it works a little differently from normal figures. Basically » Huge Chorscter counts a: two Characters ‘on the boad: its space is always considered Full to its Allies and Blocked to its Enemies. It blocks Line of Sight to its Enemics, i well at their Movement G suove } Some particularly imposing Characters (uivally Huge ones) are able to Shove others when moving, A Character with this ability never has his Movement blocked by other Characten, whether Aly or Enemy. Whenever he enters a Space, all Characters in ‘tare placed in any other Clore Spaces. The player controling the Shoving Character decides where each Sheved Character goes. They can even be placed in the Space that the Shoving Character jst vacated, Heroes being displaced by a Shove do not trigger Guard Reaction in Close Monsters Example: When the Dread King moves into the occupied Space, both the Zombie and Chaz are placed in any available Close Spaces. The nearby Ghosts Guard Reaction is not tvieeered. Beyond the Grave, and its meddling with the aftetlife, makes the Spawn tle an even more integral part of the game. Some Monster abilities, Tombitone caids of Upgrade cardi allow a Character to be tent straight to the Spawn tile, without even being killed. And yes, even a Hero can be banished to the Spawn tite! When an ability instructs you to place a Characterin the Spawn, tile, its fgure is taken from the board and placed standing up in the firstavaiable slot of the Spawn tile, but that doesn't mean {ts been killed. t's just been banithed to that world beyend the grave, avaitinga chance to return, The Character retains all Wounds he's suffered and a Hero doswit foie any Exploration tokens in hieporesion (wha says you cart exrry anything out oF thi: woild?). However, any special condition tokens placed on the Character are removed for note: on Note: Pay attention to the scenario descripti cific Monsters that may aot be banithed, RESPAWNING = BANIGHED CHARACTERS When the Spawn tile:becomes full, players rol a Monster Spawn a) usual, including any baniihed Characters. If the banihed ‘Character isa Monster, it works just ke a normal Monster Spawn, with the figure either being placed on a board Space containing the Spawn token (but stil with any Wounds itsuffered) or being returned to the game box. If the banished Character ica Hero, however, things werk 3 bit differently, Ifthe Spawn roll places the Helo in a Free space, ts figure goes to that Space on the board (ti with any Wound it suffered) but if the rell would eliminate the Hero, his igure is instead placed back on the hoard elther on his Starting Area or Close to an Ally, as #fithad been Resurrected (though it sil retains any Wounds suifered). Ghosts have a very tenuous relationship with the physical ‘world, which is why they are able to completely ignove all blocking elements such as walls, closed door and blocked spaces. For them, it ias f these elements were nok even there. That means they can move through walls and attack through them. All Spaces sharing an edge with then are comiidered Clese te them, regordless of obstacles This also means that their Guard Resction i triggered When a Hero moves out of any Spsce Clote to them, even if there's a wail between them. The Hero may net be able ‘tw attack the Ghout, but the Ghost sure can attack hin: In such a situation, where 3 Ghost i right behind a wall, it doesn't have its Guard Reaction triggered bythe Hero ignoring him or other Cloie Monsters and attacking. somebody else, because the Ghost is not considered ta be Close to the Hero (only the Hero i& comideted to be Close te the Ghost) ost, even though there's wall and a closeil door between them = When Darryn attempts to move out of his Space, Ihe Wiggers the Ghost's Guard Reaction and ix attacked. 2 - Chaz makes a ranged attack against a Stelebone that i: not Close to him. However, since the Ghost is not considered to be Clase to him behind that clased door, its Guard Reaction is not triggered, Ifa playor Rests hit Guild white his Hero is still banthed to the Spawn tife, he:can choose to bring him back to the board immediately, either on his Starting Aiea of Close to an Ally, Note: ifthe Spawn tile happens to already beull whea = Hero Ss banished, he i placed straight into his Starting Area or Clove to an Ally ‘Thi book contains all nine scenarios of Arcadia Quest = Beyond the Grave and provides allthe necenary information for setting Lup and playing each scenario, You can play the Scenarios inthis book either as.a Campaign or in Epkodic Mode.
