Hansel and Gretel

Once upon a time, at the edge of the forest, there was a very poor family.

A poor woodcutter lived there with his new wife, and two children named Hansel and Gretel.

Their mother died when they were young.

Hansel and Gretel were very sad.

Soon … their father remarried but their stepmother was so mean.

And now she had a plan…..

STEPMOTHER said : Now, the children are sleeping. We need to talk.

We don´t have enough food to feed the children.

Tomorrow morning, we will take them into the deep forest and we will leave them there.

THE WOOD CUTTER said: I will not do that to my own children!.

I will not leave them in danger!.

STEPMOTHER said : Then the four of us will die.

But Hansel and Gretel were not sleeping, in fact, they were listening to the whole conversation.

Gretel cried.

HANSEL said: Don´t cry, little sister, I have an idea to find our way back home.

Next morning, the evil stepmother took them in the deep forest. Hansel was clever, he kept some

breadcrumbs in his pocket. While they were walking, he dropped, and dropped, and dropped the

breadcrumbs on the way so that they could find their way back home.

Finally, the evil stepmother said.

“Stay here until we come back to pick you up.”

Later, Hansel and Gretel tried to find the breadcrumbs but birds ate all the crumbs, so they could

not find their way back home.

Hansel and Gretel went deeper in the forest. They were hungry and tired.

Finally, they saw a cottage made of chocolate, candies, and cake.

“Look, Hansel! A chocolate brick!” shouted Gretel happily. Then, they ate it hungrily.

Now, a witch lived there. When she saw Hansel and Gretel, she wanted to eat them.

Then the witch opened the door and invited them to stay with her in the delicious house.

The WITCH said: Please, come in.

You can even stay here with me. I live here all alone in the forest. I will cook for you, you look

so thin and weak.

The two siblings stayed with the witch but Hansel knew deep inside him that there was something

else.

That night, the witch grabbed the children and locked them in a cage.

The witch decided to make a soup out of Hansel and eat him first.

She boiled a huge pot of water for the soup. Just then, Gretel crept out of her cage.

She gave the wicked witch a powerful push from behind and the witch fell into the boiling water.

She screamed in pain and died instantly. After that, Hansel and Gretel found treasure lying around

the cottage. They carried it home. Their stepmother had died and their father welcomed them back

with tears of joy. The family becomes rich. Thanks to the witch's treasure.

They all live happily ever after and they never went hungry again!

This story teaches us that

… you should not trust strangers easily

because if something is too good to be true, it may not that good.

Moreover, parents aren’t perfect. Sometimes they make mistakes.

Just like this story, Hansel and Gretel’s father loves his children

but he makes a mistake because he agrees to leave his children in the deep forest.
