Human Rights an Introduction

So what are human rights? To get the answer to this, let’s go back in time

1948- Date that the United Nations adopted The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

It is a document that talks about basic human rights- rights that all people have just because they
are human

So how was the Worlds Situation Before 1948?

You would definitely say that the situation was not a good one.

Because:

 There were a lot of wars/conflicts


 Violence
 Discrimination/Racism
 Dictatorship/ Or the Absence of Democracy
 Arbitrary Arrests for different opinions or views
 Slavery

Because of this problem we could conclude that the world was miserable/ It sucked. So to change
the situation and get a happy life, the world manifested in asking for their rights and all nation states
of the world agreed to meet and declare the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which declared
that people always enjoyed the same rights.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights came with a whole list of Articles and Rights,

But we shall now list the basic rights that all human have:

1. The Right to Life – everyone has the right to live in safety


2. The Rights to Freedom-People are born free and nobody has any rights to make one a slave
3. The Rights to Justice/Equality- All people are equal despite their differences
4. The Right to Healthcare
5. To Marry and have a family
6. The Right to education
7. The Right to Work and have a job
8. The Right to Home and Shelter
9. Freedom of expression
10. The Right to own Property
11. Freedom of Religion
12. The Right to Vote.
