Post-vacation blues loom large as 34 percent of Americans who took a summer holiday say they are struggling with melancholy after they return home, according to a new survey.
Travel website Trip Advisor, which polled 1,400 Americans, said for 64 percent the blues descend even before the holiday is over. Day five of a one-week trip is the most anxiety-inducing and for four percent of travellers worrying begins from the first day of the trip. Ireland's state-run "bad bank" will auction works of art by the likes of Andy Warhol and Alex Katz after it put global auction house Christies in charge of a 14painting collection valued at up $2.8 million (1.78 million pounds). Created to purge Irish banks of their risky real estate loans, the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) is selling helicopters and private jets as well as skyscrapers and five-star hotels to try and claw back the 31 billion euros (27 billion pounds) it has shelled out for the loans. NAMA's chief executive said in July that the agency was getting tough on the lavish lifestyles of some of its debtors, many of whom became household names before a property crash brought Ireland's "Celtic Tiger" economy to an abrupt end.

U.S. pop art painter Alex Katz's "Ace Airport" will go under the hammer along with Warhol's Dollar Sign in Christie's New York auction room on November 9 and is expected to fetch between $150,000 and $200,000. Bali Bound Jet Collides with Three Cows on Runway at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, West Flores
A British Aerospace BAE 146/200 operated by AviaStar Jet on route from Kupang Ende Labuan Bajo (Komodo) to Bali narrowly averted disaster when it plowed into a herd of cattle grazing on the runway of the Labuan Bajo Komodo Airport in West Flores. The incident occurred when the aircraft with 44 passengers and 6 crew was confronted with a herd of 20 cows that had wandered onto the runway just as the aircraft was about to land. The operations manager of TransNusa A i r , Yo s e f Lumben Gaol, based in Kupang, told Kompas.com that he had only praise for the the skills
of the plane's pilot, Herlis Simanjuntak, who expertly manoeuvered the landing aircraft that struck three of the grazing cows. The pilot holds an instructor's certification and was once assigned as pilot for presidential flights. On this particular flight, Captain Simanjuntak's passenger manifest included the vice-regent of West Manggarai (West Flores), Maksimum Gasa. Damage to the aircraft was reportedly limited to the front landing gear of the aircraft. The damage, however, to the three errant cows was fatal.

Libra Sep 23 - Oct 22 As a Libra you learn a huge amount by talking things through with others. While sometimes you benefit from the ideas you hear, the simple process of organising your thoughts so you can discuss matters can do wonders to clear your mind. Do this now. It will clarify your thinking in several complex situations. Scorpio Oct 23 - Nov 21 The last thing you want to hear is that during this rather chaotic week, even simple plans are unlikely to last long. But once you're aware of that, instead of struggling to impose perfect order, you'll adopt an uncharacteristically easygoing approach. Thus you'll have no problem reorganising things, possibly several times over. Sagittarius Nov 22 - Dec 21 Somebody has complained about you ignoring their anxieties about recent unsettling changes. While there's little point in dwelling on these, it would be wise to give them a little reassurance. Having done that, gently but firmly sidestep their anxieties, or you'll spend hours analysing them when you could be getting something accomplished. Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 19 There's a difference between being discreet, which in certain situations is essential, and keeping crucial facts to yourself. While ordinarily you might sidestep such matters, at the moment they could be pivotal. The problem is, you won't realise why they're so important until you actually begin to discuss them with others. Aquarius Jan 20 - Feb 18 The time has come to make a fresh start. But this can't be rushed. Reflect on certain matters and equally on others' questions. They could seem challenges. They're not, but you won't registetr that until you're actually talking things over. And by then you'll be so enjoying exchanges that you'll have forgotten those tensions. Pisces Feb 19 - Mar 19 Being sensitive to the ups and down of others' emotions, you're careful not to confront certain sensitive individuals with more than they can handle. In one or two situations, however, the individual in question is far more capable of dealing with issues than you imagine. Discuss these frankly, and right away.
Cancer Jun 21 - Jul 22 There are times when no amount of creative thinking or tactful manoeuvring will overcome tense issues, and this is one of them. Once you acknowledge this fact, instead of struggling to find a universally acceptable approach to these matters, you'll focus on accepting that there simply is no solution. Leo Jul 23 - Aug 22 Having energetic Mars in Leo for the coming eight weeks will change your temperament. Initially you'll feel both the benefits and liabilities of its presence. While, on one hand, you've a new confidence about worrying dilemmas, on the other, you'll find you must contend with the tendency to impatience that Mars brings with it. Virgo Aug 23 - Sep 22 You try your best, but have struggled to keep up with recent tricky situations. But with the dynamic Mars accenting exactly such complex issues, as it will for eight weeks, you've no choice but to deal with each. While this is hugely challenging, you'll be amazed how much you accomplish.

initiated the project and has toiled over its preparations for the past four years, a work by Spencer Tunick could help raise awareness of the sea's condition and galvanise Israel's government into action. He believes there is another aspect, too, to the Jewish state hosting such a shoot. "The world needs to know that Israelis are not religious extremists," he said ahead of the event. B e s i d e s involvement in public disrobing, the installation provided Chai Amir, a 35-yearold resident of central city Bnei Brack, an opportunity to do something for a cause he believed in. "I'm glad I was able to take part in an event aimed at saving the Dead Sea," he said as the shoot wrapped. "You can really see how the waterline recedes every year." A jubilant Tunick praised the "brave" participants of his installation, some of whom flew to Israel especially for it. "This could happen nowhere else in the Middle East," he said as the event wound down, and the men and women headed to the showers and buses. "If you love freedom in New York, freedom in London, freedom in Italy... there's freedom in Israel, and I think this is very important for people to understand.

It was considered a unique find and the writings were said to be at least 3000 years old! The piece of stone was removed, brought to the museum, and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols. They held a huge meeting after months of conferences to discuss the meaning of the markings.
The President of the society, who also happened to be a Greens senator, pointed to first drawing and said: "This is a woman. We can see these people held women in high esteem. You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol is a donkey, so they were smart enough to have animals help them till the soil. The next drawing is a shovel, which means they had tools to help them." Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish which means that if a famine hit the earth and food didn't grow, they seek food from the sea. The last symbol appears to be the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews. The audience applauded enthusiastically. Then a little old Jewish man stood up in the back of the room and said, "Idiots...Hebrew is read from right to left... It says: 'Holy Mackerel, Dig the Ass on that Chick"

If Chris Walton ever started biting her nails, she'd probably wear her teeth out: the Las Vegas resident has been declared to be the woman with the longest nails in the world.

Arriving by black stretch limousine, Walton, a flamboyant 45year-old grandmother with a huge bottle-blonde hairdo, posed for photographs on the steps of the ornate main New York Public Library. The claws on the famous stone lions flanking the library steps had nothing on her bizarre appendages. Varnished in gold glitter, Walton's nails stretch and curve from her hands in a tangle resembling something between spaghetti and one of those writhing Hollywood aliens. The nail on her ring finger is the length of a human arm, her left pinky is the length of a fire hydrant, and it would take only 484 versions of her left thumb nails to stretch all the way up to the top of the Empire State Building.
