[No Thought]

They say silence is gold meaning a manifestation of intelligence.

Silence is a thunderous punctuation let loose to yield us
from speaking further.

Silence is a secretary bird suddenly descending on our napes.

One spit of a question mark, expect the round-trip meeting
Between their palm and our lips for seeking fairness, but
always equated to rudeness and disrespect
because the young ones are not supposed to.
No questions asked.

Old age guarantees not only wisdom but also

truth, authoritative, the absolute, definitely not
An old wives’ tale, and without a question.
Repeat, resist, the more this lesson swells.
The world around us becomes bigger as we are
Left curled, stitching our mouth, a caged dash.
Rethink. Let this fear resonate. Suppress the ember
with our own tongue. Let it resonate.
Repression starts at home and is enforced
at the four corners of the classroom.

Today’s lesson:
To be a true human being means listening attentively.
The essentials are listed on the blackboard, green
by the way, choking on the diffusing chalk’s chicanery.
Lest we forget the teacher is always right.
Next: learn how to add, subtract then divide
and multiply—by heart, if the pieces permits in the future.
Next: learn how to pray and to be a latest edition of the prescribed books,
To think like the book, if it is thinking at all.
The sky, they say, is the limit but whoever looks at the window
Will be pulled back, asked what is wrong.
As a result, we end up as a joke that need not require
Laughter…but still laughable.
Tough loco parentis love assuaged as reverse psychology,
Take it as a way of thinking outside the box
Until we become the box making sense of falling sensibilities.
When the bell rings, we look at birds making sense of proximity:
We live the dream the oldsters want us to be,
A choice between no choices.
You don’t get it that is fine
You don’t have to get everything and that’s the point.

By the time you are ripened enough to wake up.

The earth has given you lies 24/7.
By now, we should have known the lesson, to unlearn.
