CODE OF ETHICS

Teachers must model strong character traits, including perseverance,

honesty, respect, lawfulness, fairness, patience, and unity. Therefore we
included this topic in our LAC session to remind teachers on how important
is our totality as a person in the teaching profession.

This session gave us awareness on the existing laws and regulations that
apply to the teaching profession. In addition, we would like to uphold the
dignity of the teaching profession by exhibiting the qualities that are expected
of us. This is not only a refresher for teachers who have rendered service for
more than five years and above but also for those who are young and are new
in the service.

There were several reactions from the group for some of the articles in the
Code. One said that although teachers may not be significantly aware they
are held to high standards by their students and they are extremely important
individuals that may impact the foundation of the student’s personal success.
She added that students spend the majority of their life in the classroom
therefore, the overall organizational culture and ethics that teachers exemplify
in the classroom will ultimately affect the mindset of students. So we all
agreed that we have a moral obligation to maintain our character to a higher
standard in the presence of the students
