The uso of Thuraya, liridum and other such Satelite phone is banned in India Under Sec 6 of Indian Wireless Act and Sec 20 of Indian Tolegraph Ac. Its intimated to all Shipping companies / Shipping agents that use of Thuraya, Irrdum and other such Satelite Is banned in indian waters and seafarers should not us the same. 3, Satelite phones can be used only aller @ no objection certificate is issued by Department of Tolacommunications (DOT) on a case to case basis, 4.
