A war broke out in the United States after Abram

Lincoln promised to limit slavery, a measure that


affected the southern states of the union. (1861)

The foreign alliance negotiated and signed the


treaties of solitude in 1862. Spain and England
accepted the agreements and withdrew their troops.

In March 1862 the French government rejected the


treaties and demanded compensation for 12 million
pesos. The fighting began and they advanced
towards the center of the country. (1862)

On May 5, General Zaragoza confronted the


imperial army of Napoleon III in the city of Puebla;
"The Battle of Puebla"

The Mexican army defeated the French forces

Faced with the government's difficulty in


continuing to finance the debt, the government
decreed a suspension of payments for 6
months. (1861)

The creditor countries did not agree, England, Spain


and France sent an expedition to blockade the port
of Veracruz (End of 1861)

As the French occupation progressed, a meeting of


nobles declared the empire called "the second
Mexican empire" established, and proposed
Maximilian of Habsburg for the throne. (1864)

After 4 years of fighting and after the execution of


Emperor Maximilian, Juarez decided to resettle the
government in the capital of the country, arriving on
July 15, 1867.
