Your cover letter is a great way to showcase yourself as a person as well as your experience in relation to the job. It is
important for your opening line to get straight to the point while still showing your personality. A good example
would be, “Over my fi ve years as the leading Product Manager, I’ve learned one thing, …”. This displays your
personality and qualifi cations in one concise sentence. If you heard about this job from someone associated with the
company, it would be best to say that now.
Your hiring manager does not want to hear how this job would be great for you; instead, use this time to explain what
you can bring to their company. Try your best not to repeat what you have already stated in your resume, instead,
refl ect on your greatest or most memorable achievement. State a problem that the company had and the steps you
took to resolve it, improving overall revenue or effi ciency of the company. This will create a picture for your employer
to easily remember you by.
Be authentic. Compliment the company on a recent success or anything that you truly admire about them. Hiring
managers want to see that you are passionate about their company and actively following them. This will also show
that you are not sending them a generic cover letter that could possibly be sent to many other companies.
Remember to stay personable, describe your excitement for this job and how dedicated you are in helping the
company reach their goals. Make sure to briefl y thank the employer for considering you. Try not to make your cover
letter too lengthy, no more than 300 words.
SINCERELY,
ChloePhillips
