A plot is defined as a sequence of events that makes up a story.

The structure is how this sequence


of events is arranged in relation to one another.

a 12-year-old girl called Karana who is stranded on an island and has to work out how to survive. Her
main enemies on the island are the wild dogs and she lives in fear of the Aleuts (a tribe who arrive
on the island to hunt seals)

First Person (Central) We get all the details of this story straight from the horse's mouth – that is,
this is a first-person story told to us by the main character herself: Karana. The first-person narration
shows us exactly what Karana is thinking and feeling, her hopes and her fears.

At its most basic, conflict is the clash of opposing forces with a character's own pursuit of a goal.

Karana's struggle to survive on the island is the main conflict in the novel.

The CLIMAX of the story is when the CONFLICT of the PLOT is resolved.

The climax is the arrival and hurried departure of a rescue ship followed several years later by its
return

(an important idea that is woven throughout a story) the main subject that is being discussed or
described in a piece of writing, a movie, etc.

the value of friendship, self-reliance, and perseverance in the face of great obstacles.

Style in literature is the literary element that describes the ways that the author uses words

In Island of the Blue Dolphins, there are many Figurative Language, for example:" there's simile,
metaphor, hyperbole, and personification (. Plain, Sparse. The setting is painted for us here in vivid
detail. We can practically hear those gulls dropping their shells on the rocks. The narrator doesn't
overwhelm us with poetic words or elaborate phrases.)
