Wiring Diagram of the Control Panel The Control Panel was designed to provide & constant visual monitor of the Oil Pres sure, 01] Tomperature, and Percent of Motor Load'on the Telsmith Gyrasphere Crushers. The panel has been internally wired and the oil connections have been hooked up at the factory. ‘The Control Panel needs only # minimum of field installation to inte- grabe the Panel into the crusher circuit. Following is a recommended installation procedure to follow to completely hook up ‘the Control Panel. Primary Power Leads: ‘this Control Panel can be wired either for 240 V. or 480 YV. ‘The primary transformer must be wired as shown in Figure 3 to accommodate the voltage desired. As is illustrated, the normal wiring is for 480 V. to convert to 240 V., simply connect transformer termi— nals H2 and H4 to line 4, Connect H1 and 13 to Line 3. Percent Motor Load Transformer: This transformer is the window type that can be altered to conform exactly to the total motor load output of the crusher motor Follow the accowpanying instructions on how to install the transformer inte the circuit. Note that on Figure 3, the secondary leads are attached to terminals 7 & 8 on the terminal block. Alarm Bell: Mount the alarm bell away Yrom the contrel panel close to the crusher operators station. The alarm bell should be wired to terminals 2 & 5 as shown in Figure 3. Note that on the same drawing there is an illustration of a standard 120 ¥. Light incorporated into the circuit as a customer option. It is highly recommended especially noisy opor- ations. Mount the light in a readily visible place near the operators station. Oil Pressure Line: Hook up the oil pres- Sure Line to the tubing connection at the bottom of the control panel, making sure thst the line is contected to the pres- sure side of the lubricating systom of the Gyrasphere crusher. Wiring the Window Type Transforner: Following is the wing Sequence from General Electric on converting the trans— former circuit to mateh your moter amper— age. The instructions must be adhered to exactly to establish the correct percent Figure 4. Subtracting motor load. Secondary Turns NMnnnnnnAnnananaA INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AS A VARYABLE- TATTO CORRENG TRANS Forum In @ current transformer, the ratio of the primiry current to the secondary current is inversely proportional to ratio of the number of turns in the primary winding to ‘he mumber of turns in the secondary wind~ ing, The configuration of a window-type current transformer, like the Type JCH-0, is such (hat current ratios different from the Rameplate ratio can be obtained by altering externally the effective number of primary and/or secondary turns, This can be accom plished in practice by (a) increasing the number of primary turns by looping the Primary cable two or more times through the transformer window, and () adding to, or subtracting from, the number of turns’ in the secondary winding by looping through the window one of the conductors used to connect the secondary winding to the indi- cating instrument Primary turns can be increased by looping the primary cable through the transformer window. To calculate the exact number of turns, count the number of times the pri- mary cable actually passes through the window, Secondary turns can be added or subtractea depending upon the direction in which the secondary conductor passes through the transformer window. Page 2 Contioued = Uw u UVUUU UU WVUUUUeve eeu uuuuub uuu & TELSMITH SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 38 (cont) To subtract secondary turns, connect a conductor to the secondary terminal with the X polarity mark and pass it through the transformer window from the side with the Hy polarity mark, See Fig. 4. ‘0 add secondary turns, connect a con-— ductor to the secondary terminal with the X polarity mark and pass it through the transformer window from the side marked with the Hy polarity mark. See Fig. 5. In either casc, the conductor connected to the other secondary terminal should be connected directly to the aumeter witheut going through the transformer window, NOTE: The primary and secondary conduc- tors should not coue inte contact unless they are fully insulated for the circuit voltage. MOTOR LOAD INDICATION Electric instruments ure used on machine tools to indicate the motor load. However, since the magnitude of the moter-losad eur- rent varies with the machine and motor size, it is custowary.to use an indication of "Bercent of Full-load Current." When measuring the percent of full-losd current of a motor, a standard ratio Type JCH-O current transformer can be used with 4 transformer-rated ammeter which has a scale marked 0-100 percent or 0=150 percent. The same transformer and instruments can be used with different size motors by chang- ing externally the effective current ratio of the transformer It is possible to change the current-ratio of the transformer by looping the primary conductor two or more times through the transformer window. The ratio can also be changed by adding to or subtracting trom the effective number of secondary turns by looping through the window one of the con- duetors used to connect the secondary winding to the instruments. ‘Continued Page 3 TELSMITH SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 38 (eant.) Figure 5, Adding Secondary Turns rr Page 4 To calculate the required current ratio of the transformer proceed as follows: First - From the motor numeplate or from motor load curves supplied by the manufacturer, determine the full~load current of the motor, Second ~ Multiply the full-load by the desired full-scale value of the instru- ment, 100 or 150 percent. Divide this produet by 100 and the result will be the primary current for a secondary current of 5 amperes. Third — From the attached ratio tables select a transformer that will give a ratio nearest to the desired ratio and determine the number ef primary and secondary turns to use. If the desired ratio appears at several places in the table, make selection of the transformer that will require the fewest number of turns or else give consideration to pos- sible future changes in the motor. Example: Full-loxd motor current = 103.5 amperes Desired scale range (0-150 percent 103.5 X 150 Too 155.25 amperes From the table, a transformer ratio of 155:5 which is the nearest to 155,25:5 amperes can be obtained with a 300:5 ampere transformer by looping 2 turns of the primary cable through the window and by adding 2 secondary turns, Continued rarrnAmaARRAnRARARARARANANRAANnANHRAANnRANA VDUUBUUULBUUULVUUUUUYUEUUUUEUEUUUUbUUU TELSMITH SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 38 (cont) ‘ Type JCH-O, 600 Volts 25-400 Cycles @ 10010 800 Amperes © Impulse Lovel, Fullewave—I0 Kv ee ae For vse with AMMETERS only. re oat Be 8 a, ft vax aa ae . la |B) 8/2 : ee = : POEL EE B | | EER ® |f #7E, ETE le Continued TELSMITH SERVICE BULLETIN NO, 33 (cond,) AANA Type JCH-O, 600 Volts 25-400 Cycles © 100 to 800 Amperes Impulse Level, Fulkwave—10 Kv Bitase af Pet Jem son aan WVWVWWW Ww UeUeUuweuewuuu wu www TELSMITH, INC.
