Emergency medicine is the medical speciality concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries
requiring immediate medical attention. in coordination with a Emergency medical services, they
are primarily responsible for initiating resuscitation and stabilization and performing the initial
investigations and interventions necessary to diagnose and treat illnesses or injuries in the acute
phase. Patients with chest pain who present to emergency departments have a significantly
higher incidence of acute coronary syndrome. Emergency department procedural sedation and
analgesia is performed with a number of medications, including propofol, etomidate, midazolam,
fentanyl, ketamine, and nitrous oxide. Neurocritical Care and Emergency Neurology assumes the
primary role in the care of critically ill patients, based on their unique knowledge of the interface of
the brain with other organ systems. While Medical toxicologists specialize in the prevention,
evaluation, treatment, and monitoring of injury and illness from exposure to drugs and chemicals ,
as well as biological and radiological agents. And surgical emergency is a medical emergency for
which immediate surgical intervention is the only way to solve the problem successfully. Also
orthopedic emergency occurs when you injure bone or soft tissue in a way that requires
immediate treatment to avoid further trauma or harm to your body. Also orthopedic emergencies
can be the result of a sudden acute injury or trauma, or they could be complications from existing
condition or surgery. Finally a psychiatry consultation is an appointment with a psychiatrist to
obtain his medical opinion on a specific case. Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in
diagnosing and treating mental health disorders.

is/are the implication/s of this/these to patients and health care professionals?

The purpose of emergency medical care is to stabilize patients who have a life-threatening or
limb-threatening injury or illness. In contrast to preventive medicine or primary care, emergency
medical care focuses on the provision of immediate or urgent medical interventions. It includes
two major components: medical decision-making, and the actions necessary to prevent needless
death or disability because of time-critical health problems, irrespective of the patient’s age,
gender, location or condition.

3. What learnings did you get out of each topic? What are your realization out of that?

Emergency medical services, they are primarily responsible for initiating resuscitation and
stabilization and performing the initial investigations and interventions necessary to diagnose and
treat illnesses or injuries. I realized the the importance of immediate Medical intervention and that
are provided in the ED and how the area create the most significant impact on saving lives.
