AKAL UNIVERSITY, TALWANDI SABO

Incentivising Research and Innovation Policy

In modern day higher education system, especially for private and public universities, the research is
the integral part of the system to keep them to the highest level. For this purpose, the competent
faculty having wider exposure and dedication is required. Further, it is the duty of the universities to
provide a congenial research atmosphere to the faculty so that they can give their best in the form of
new technologies and innovations to the modern society at large. To promote research in the
university system, motivation is one aspect and to undertake quality research at par with international
standards, some form of incentives must be given in the monetary terms to encourage the active
researchers. This is the only way to differentiate between the active and non-active researchers.

Considering this fact, Akal University has formulated a research policy to give impetus to the research
activity which mainly includes the financial assistance to those faculty members engaging themselves
in the active research. The Akal University ‘Incentivising Research, and Innovation Policy’ have been
developed to enhance sponsored research and innovation activities. By providing opportunities for
teaching and research staff to be eligible for monetary and non-monetary rewards, the policy provides
incentive options to secure externally-funded research grants or funds or consultancy and contracts.
