Course Description
This course is designed to prepare students to pursue careers in the field of Dentistry. Upon
completion of this course, a student proficient in Dental Science Education will be able to
identify careers in these field, compare and contrast the features of healthcare systems, explain
the legal and ethical ramifications of the Dental setting and begin to perform foundational Dental
skills. This course will serve as a strong foundation for all postsecondary dental science
programs of study. Students will also qualify to take the National Entry Level Dental Assistant
exam before they graduate from high school.

bones, muscles, sinuses, salivary glands, nerves, and blood vessels.

how each can cause a disease or disorder.

dental facilities.

16.1 - Understand principles of and successfully perform skills related to Dental

Attendance Policy
In Case You Are Late or Absent: It is your responsibility to get the course notes, handouts, and project
assignments should you miss class or be late.

Additional Assistance
My standard office hours are from 7:30 a.m. until the start of school and until 3:45 p.m. each day as well
as during ICU. Other arrangements for assistance can be made by appointment as needed. I can be located
before school and during ICU in room 425.
