Crisostomo Ibarra
Juan Crisóstomo Ibarra y Magsalin, commonly called Ibarra, is a
descendant of the wealthy Spaniard Don Rafael Ibarra, a man larger than
life in the town of San Diego but who gets in trouble because he questions
the Churchs practices. His grandfather, Don Saturnino Ibarra, was also a
very wealthy man and was one to purchase the Ibarra estate in San Diego.
Going back to Crisostomo, he was born and grew up in the Philippines, but
during his adolescence, spent seven years studying in Europe. The strength
of Don Crisostomo Ibarra seems to dwell on his social status, lineage from
prestige ancestors, wealth, education and connections with powerful
persons from the Gobernadorcillos to the Captain-General of Las Islas
Filipinas. Moreover, he is physically healthy and fit, with Spanish-looking
features but Filipino-colored skin. Carries himself with an air of prestige and
confidence, but he is humble, respectful, and well-educated.
Sandro Marcos is the Crisostomo Ibarra of today for the following reasons: Firstly, while
Crisostomos father, Don Rafael Ibarra, strongly questioned the Churchs practices in his time,
today, Sandros father, BongBong Marcos strongly questions the previous vice-presidential
elections and strongly demanded for a recount – of which was heavily opposed by
progressive forces. Secondly, Sandros grandfather, Ferdinand Marcos, is just like
Crisostomos grandfather, Don Saturnino. Both are very wealthy, well-known and
distinguished men. They are both powerful and have connections with powerful men as well
especially in the political atmosphere of the Philippines. Thirdly, like Crisostomo, Sandro was
also sent to Europe to live in the United Kingdom in his early years to study. He studied in
Oxford Brookes in UK and now earns a masters degree from London School of Economics
and Political Science. Fourthly, while Crisostomo is known to be a very fluent and articulate
person in many languages, Sandro is as well very fluent and articulate in both Tagalog and
English. Fifthly, women or young girls of his age, swoon over Sandro just like the women did
for Crisostomo. Lastly, Sandro share very similar qualities with Crisostomo. He is also very
physically healthy and fit, with Foreign-like features but Filipino-colored skin and carries
himself with an air of prestige and confidence. Nonetheless, he remains to be humble,
respectful, and well-educated.
Simuon
Simoun (El Filibusterismo) He is Juan Crisostomo
Ibarra of Noli Me Tangere in disguise. He fled to
Cuba where he became rich and consequently
befriended many Spanish officials. Unlike Ibarra in
Noli, he is now vigilant; he now embodies the
Filipinos who had had enough of the cruelties of the
Spaniards. •Outwardly, he is a friend of Spain, but
deep in his heart, he is bitter and ruthless, secretly
planning a revolution against the Spanish
authorities.
Kabataan Partylist
Kabataan Partylist is Simoun in today's society.
Kabataan Party-list, formerly "Ang Nagkakaisang
Kabataan Para sa Sambayanan"is a party-list in the
Philippines affiliated with the leftist political party
Makabayan. It represents the interests of the youth
sector in the Philippine Congress and is composed of
different youth groups all over the country.•It aims to
"galvanize the Filipino youths unity for social
change,"believing that the youth should "devote its
intellect, energy, and courage to building a new
society devoid of corruption, inequality, and social
injustice."
Elias
Pope benedict IX
He was the nephew of his immediate predecessor, John XIX. In October
1032, Benedict's father obtained his election through bribery. However,
his reputed dissolute activities provoked a revolt on the part of the
Romans. Benedict was driven out of Rome and Sylvester III elected to
succeed him. Some months later, Benedict and his supporters managed
to expel Sylvester. Benedict then decided to abdicate in favor of his
godfather, Gregory VI, provided he was reimbursed for his expenses.
Benedict subsequently had second thoughts and returned, and
attempted to depose Gregory. A number of prominent clergymen
appealed to King Henry III of Germany to restore order. Henry and his
forces crossed the Brenner Pass into Italy, where he summoned the
Council of Sutri to decide the matter. Benedict, Sylvester, and Gregory
were all deposed. Henry then had Clement II elected in December 1046.
Padre Florentino
Padre Florentino is the only Indio priest mentioned
in El Filibusterismo, since most Indios end up as
priests' assistants. He used to be considered
charming and happy, and was part of a rich family
and his mother forced him to enter the seminary
(because of her friendship with the archbishop).
For me, it is like “ I want to show the world that our love
for our own country is replaceable by none. Because
not all people has the love for their own country. Some
people are greedy of money and power and those
people are the those who didn’t have a chance to
feel the love of his country. that those people who feel
it have the courage to fight for his country and read to
die for it.
"I want to show to those who deprive people the
right to love of country, that when we know how to
sacrifice ourselves for our duties and convictions,
death does not matter if one dies for those one
loves—for his country and for others dear to him."

“Let us not ask for miracles, let us not ask for
concern with what is good for the country of him
who comes as a stranger to make his fortune and
leave afterwards.”
