INDULGENCIAS
• It was is a very strange institution.
• Pope and bishops demanded money to the faithful
for forgiving sins of the death people.
• German monk: Martin Luther made a formal protest
in 1517.
• Emperor Charles sided with the Pope.
• The Christianity divided between Catholics and
Evangelicals.
Basic Protestantism
• Bible was the most important thing.
They had to read the bible.
• Priest could marry.
• Baptism and communion.
• Virgin Mary was just a woman and
saints were not important.
• Processions and other practices
were abolished.
• They DID NOT OBEY the Pope.

time.

– John Knox (Scotland)
– King Henry VIII (England)

• Christianity lost importance in Europe.
• Half Europe practiced a different kind of
Christianity.
• Most of the Catholic bishops met at the city of
Trento, Italy.
• They discussed about reformation but they
didn’t changes their beliefs.
