Topic: Area of plane figures
Assignment: 3
Date: November, 2021
1 Find the lateral surface area of the cuboids whose dimensions are : Answers
i) Length = 24 cm, breadth = 25 cm and height = 6cm i) 588cm2
ii) Length = 16 m, breadth = 25 cm and height = 4m ii) 130 m2

2 The length, breadth and height of a room are 5m, 4m and 3m respectively. Find
the cost of white washing the walls of the room and the ceiling at the rate of Rs. 555m2
7.50 per square meter.

3 The capacity of a cuboidal tank is 50000 litres of water. Find the breadth of the 2m
tank, if its length and depth are respectively 2.5 m and 10m.

4 An aquarium is in in form of a cuboid whose external measures are 40cm by

15cm by 20cm. the base , side face and back face are to be covered with a 80cm
coloured paper. Find the length of the paper needed whose width is 25cm.

5 The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder of height 14cm is 88 cm2 .
Find the diameter of the base of the cylinder. 2cm

6 The circumference of the base of a cylinder is 176cm and its height is 65cm. 11440 cm2
Find the curved surface area and total surface area of the cylinder. 16368 cm2

7 If the lateral surface of a cylinder is 94.2cm2 and its height is 5 cm, then find i) 3 cm
radius of its base ii) its volume. 141.3 cm2
(Use π = 3.14)

8 Four times the area of the curved surface of a cylinder is equal to 6 times the r = 8 cm,
sum of the areas of its bases. If its height is 12 cm, find its curved surface area. A = 603.428 cm2

9 The surface areas of the six faces of a rectangular solid are 16, 16, 32, 32, 72
and 72 square centimetres. The volume of the solid, in cubic centimetres, is
(a) 192 (b) 384 (c) 480 (d) 2592

10 If R is the radius of the base of the hat, then the

total outer surface area of the hat is
(a) πr (2h + R) (b) 2rπ (h + R)
(c) 2 πrh + πR2 (d) None of these
