VOLUME CALCULATIONS

Volume = Area X WFT WFT = 100 X DFT

1000 VS%

1. What Volume of paint would be required to cover an area of 300

square meters, to a specified DFT of 65µm, using a paint of 45% VS.

WFT = 100 X 65 = 144.4µm VOLUME = 300m² X 144.4 = 43.3Ltrs

45 1000

1. How much paint would be required to coat a tank, roof and side
sheets to a DFT OF 100µm? The tank is 5 metres high and 6 metres. The paint to
be used is solvent free.

Area of circle (roof) : π² = 3.142 X 2.5 X 2.5 = 19.63m²

Area of Cylinder (sides): π X diameter X height = 3.142 X 5 X 6 = 94.26mπ
Total area of tank (sides + roof) : 19.63 + 94.26 = 113.89m²

Volume of paint = 113.89 X 100µm (DFT = WFT = 100) = 11.39Ltrs
