I tried to download several files from Scribd.com through JDownloader, but that didn't work. I got a message "download is disabled for this file!"
for each of the files in the Status column from the Download section. Nevertheless Linkgrabber had checked the files and said they were
available online. Anybody knows why this happens?

You need to open an account with them. I had a similar problem. Please check here http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=38054 or

Hi peace,
I already suspected something like that. But I don't feel like sharing my personal credentials with Scribd.
I read how myUserGeneric proposes a workaround in http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=31251. Thanks for that tip, but that
doesn't work either. I copied the URL structure that he provided:

and replaced the <doc_num> placeholder by the actual document number that is used on the Scribd website. Executing this url merely
redirects me to the scribd/mobile homepage and I still get no download. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or perhaps Scribd has changed the
download procedure meanwhile (the workaround tip is almost 9 months old).

Hiya,
If you have noticed, all hosters make continously changes to their code, thus there are so many updates for JD through time to be able to
download from them. I had done some research as well regarding scribd.com and found various workarounds to download from scribd.com
(like getting the real link, uploading blank files, printing to a pdf printer, etc) but at the end of the comments there was someone telling that this
superb workaround didn't work anymore. Unless you have plenty of time to try various workarounds, I would suggest that you open a free
account (no need for premium) just to get the login details needed. If you are lucky, that is if the owner of the file has enabled download, you
will be able to download the files you want, otherwise you will need a premium account. I haven't tried this yet, but this must be the way that it
works with JD.
If you have Firefox there is a plugin for downloading scribd.com files. I tried it but it didn't work. They may have updated it in the meantime...
PS. I will PM you if in the future come up with a better solution as I also do not like opening accounts just to download a few files...

Everything is said.
Why are you looking for "workarounds" if a host disabled the download for free (unregistered) users?
Do you want to hack it?
Also note that you don't have to share any of your private data.
As name/surname/username you can use what you want and as a mail...well why do we have trash mails:

Of course I don't want to hack the site, I merely want to keep as low a profile on the internet as possible, in order to avoid getting spammed or
getting plagued by other nuisances. I didn't know that something like trash mail addresses or how one may call them existed. That'll certainly
help to keep a low profile in case I have to fork up an e-mail address, so thanks for that link. It sometimes seems like if you need to find
something, that it is sitting somewhere on the internet, just waiting to be found. You only have to ask the right questions - or pull the right
strings.

Dear JD Team,
1) I have read all above. If scribd users are logged in and still cannot download from scribd they should upload anything on scribd, and then
they will be allowed for downloading from scribd again. I know that well from my own 2-year experience of downloading from scribd. Of course,
this is only one of cases why people cannot download, and this provision does not cover files protected against downloading. "Share and be
shared" - such is the policy. From time to time I was refused downloading free books, then uploaded some files, and download gate opened
again. Uploads are required not so often.
2) Recently scribd.com initiated some changes and now links appear with ru in the URL string in my location (Russia), like below
Code:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff**
Thank you.

Thank you, though JD did not find updates. Nothing changed. It does not recognise links including ru. Without ru plugin is out-of-date. Should I
do anything to initiate changes in JD?

I was able to download any scribd file with JDownloader 2 Beta last week. Today I formatted my pc and installed JDownloader 2 Beta again,
and now it can't download Scribd files.
Weird.
