canada

canada's capital is ottawa. canada is the second largest country

in the world, it's about 30 times as bigger than finland, so it's about 10

million square kilometres. canada is located in northern america.

history

canada's democratic government comes from great-britain

because canada was once it's colony. it also includes

alot of french. the first people to step in canada were

probably people from siberia whom came to canada trough

the bering narrow. it is said that first inhabitants were

mongolian hunters and gatherers from about 2000 bc. these

ancestors of present-day indians quickly inhabited the

desolate and rich in resources landscape known as america.

traditional inuit culture is still alive and well in the western slopes of
canada.

in 1992 canada established private territory for the inuit people.

inuit culture is based on hunting from which it is

meant to get food for families and to trade goods

among other hunters, they used dog teams alot.

nowadays they use mainly snowmobiles,


atleast when it's winter.

environment and climate

canada is located pretty north, so environment and climate

resemble finland pretty much. about half of canada is called

"subarctic area" which means that summer is cold and

short and in winter it can sometimes get to over -40 celsius degrees.

about 50% of environment is forest in canada. canada also has

pretty much lakes and years average temperature is almost the

same as in finland. half of the large lakes belong to canada.

one big difference between finland and

canada is the fact that canada has large areas of grassy plains.

the country's tree supplies are third largest in the whole world,

only russia and brasil have more forest area. yearly amount of

rain also resemble finland very much. canada's largest mountain

range are the rocky mountains. in autumn the canadian maple leaves

always turn red and that's why the flag of

canada has red maple leaf in it.

industriality

canada is world's largest producer of newspaper, because the

tree supply is huge. usage of trees is althought reduced by rivers

which flow in the wrong direction. canadian soil is rich considering

mining and farming. natural riches include for example, oil, natural

gas, coal, gold, copper, uranium and lead. center of wood industry

is vancouver, which is located in the western shore. canada also

produces huge amount of energy with many ways including water-


and nuclear power. industriality covers over 20% of yearly gnp and

it employs about 17% of the country's workers.

farming and animals.

canada is one of the biggest producers of wheat in the world. and

the center of wheat producing is in winnipeg. other farm products

are meat, fish and so forth. the wilderness areas of canada are pretty

much untouched by humans so it gives great environment for all


kinds

of animals to roam in. the polar sea and other arctic areas are

populated by seals, whales, walruses and polar bears.
