Origin of AL The origins of Alcan be traced back to the 1950s, when a group of researchers at Dartmouth College proposed the creation of thinking machines thal could mimic human intelligence. This proposal marked the beginning of the field of Artificial Intelligence (An. The term Ariificial Intelligence was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy during a meeting at Dartmouth College. He is considered as the father of Al, He proposed an interdisciplinary research program to creale learning or any other feature of intelligence into machines. This proposal was significant because it first ime marked the term Artificial intelligence. The Dartmouth proposal was followed by a series of Al research programs and projects that were funded by the United States government and private organizations. These early research efforts focused on developing rule-based systems, known as expert systems, which could perform specific tasks, such as diagnosing medical conditions, by followinga set of pre-defined rules. “The beginning of Al research was driven by the idea that machines can be made to mimic human intelligence. This could be beneficial in many fields, such as healthcare, transportation, education, and more.
