like the Walrus, we talk of so many things, and how we talk about
them is so important to us, that good speaking Is an art we should
all learn
to master.
How important to you is the art of good speaking? It can be
vitally important, a key factor in your success or failure.

Almost three hundred years ago, British author and politician
Joseph Addison had this to say about it: "If the minds of men were
laid open; we should see but little difference between that of the wise
men and that of the fool. The difference is that the first knows how
to pick and cull his thoughts for conversation…… whereas the other
lets them all indifferently fly out in words." And this is still true
today. It is by what you say and how you say it that people judge
you most often. That is how important your speech is.

From the instant we wake with the alarm clock till we shutout eyes
in sleep, we constantly use these sounds, making ourselves heard
and understood through the medium of speech. It's. "Good morning"
before we sit down to our cup of coffee; and has it ever occurred to
you to count the number of ways we say "Good morning"?
Perfunctorily? Grumpily? Even angrily? And have you ever thought
of the way that "Good morning" of yours has a very definite effect
on the people to whom you address it?

A "Good morning" can relieve morning weariness, can brighten the
entire office staff, can raise eyebrows, or lower them. It's amazing
what speaking just two words can do or undo. But you knov, jall this
