SWA-WSEP ACCOMPLISHMENT FORM

PROJECT NAME: FEEDING, ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP AND TREE PLANTING

OF MAHAYAG SCOUTS (F.E.C.T.O.S) (Clean-up Drive)
PROJECT RECIPIENT/S: Purok 3, Polacions’ residents
ORGANIZER/S: CFES Angelica C. Cadavedo
LOCATION: Purok 3 to Purok 2, Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga
Del Sur
DATE: January 22, 2023

NARRATIVE:
The goal of this project was to clean up
the area around our small town -
Poblacion Mahayag - wherein, almost
two decades of my life, I have not
witnessed our community's rubbish
being disposed of in a dignified
manner. I have to admit that when I
was younger than this present time
(2023, 16 years), I dumped my trash all
over the place. There was a period
when my family, particularly the side
of my mother, had a compose pit, and
it was always filled. As the years
passed, my neighbors were concerned about the potential for flooding to affect their home, especially for
those who lived near a river. We were grateful that the planned resolution to widen and deepen the river
to prevent flooding was adopted by the local mayor just one year ago. As far as I can tell, the garbage that
is meant to be disposed of properly is now
visible at the sides of the highways. In
particular, from our school to our public
market. There are plastics, rugs, and
biodegradable trash everywhere. Wherefore,
as a resident youth/Scout to the
neighborhood, I proposed the project to
our purok president, district councilor, and
baranggay captain that in resolving the
issue that there was a need in conducting a
massive clean-up drive near our highways
to the garbage that were scattered around
the lurks of the corner with my fellow Scouts and Scouters to lead as my co-workers, where, 42
CFES’ Batch Mabalasik Scouts together with the 16 CFES' from Boniao, 2 CFES from SJNHS
and 8 CFES’ from DNHS. With the assistance of Mrs. Zannyper C. Saladaga, WBH, Mrs. Dailor
Cabase, ES Gynn Sarabia, ES Lee Adrian Caylan, ES Dexter Egos, ES Earl Justine Navarro, ES
Rafael Jay A. Aringa. As a result, maintaining our small community's cleanliness and orderliness was
necessary as the expected outcome.
The adults, youth, children, and the future of our neighborhood will benefit from this effort because,
in my mind, it will serve as a prelude to our need as residents to maintain cleanliness and order in
deference to the Almighty because we are but tenants in his comfortable residence.
We only have a small area to accommodate such things, and I make sure that those things don't have a
space to occupy, so it was strongly recommended to the barangay captain that the municipal garbage
truck collector should pick up the biodegradable and non-biodegradable household waste even just twice
a month.
The above mentioned initiative was put into action on January 22, 2023, at around 07:00H.
We also carried out a tree-planting effort to further our objective in order to clarify the project's aim.
