AGA Thermovision® 782 highlights

Temperature measurement-portability-flexibility.
The 782 system is a real-time, portable infrared measurement
system, specially designed for convenient field operations.
It combines flexibility with ntggedness and ease of operation.
Compatible with Thermovision 780® for advanced
analog and digital thelmal analysis, offering unique capa-
bilities to analyze complex thelmal pattems.

THE VERSATILITY OF THE 782 SYSTEM

SUITS MULTIPLE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS.
The wide range of applications in industrial processes
and research requires quick and simple adaptation of the
infrared equipment in order to exploit its capabilities fully.

Quantification of thermal data.
The increasing demand for quantification and repeatability of thermal data in a wide range of applications has been
considered in the design of this new product in the series of AGA Thermovision® Systems.
The Thermovision® 782 system offers a unique method of temperature measurement. With a properly calibrated
system, the thermal level control can be used to read out the middle temperature directly. With this value known, all other
object temperatures can be determined using the built-in isotherm function.

An isotherm added on the gray-tone image saturates

in white areas of equal temperature in the image. The iso-
therm is used to measure temperature differences in
the image.
Two isotherms are an advantage when temperature
measurements are performed using a temperature
reference in the image. This also allows temperature cal-
culations to be performed off a photorecorded image.
Inverted image presentation, i.e. black equals warm
and white equals cold, improves the use of isotherms or
studies of small temperature variations in the warm regions
of the image.
The gray-step mode provides real-time quantized
images in 5 distinct steps of gray. Each step corresponds to
a discrete thermal level. This mode simplifies the studying
of complex thermal patterns and is particularly valuable for In this thermogram, one isotherm is set to enhance a normal

information and the dial setting of the level control, both temp-
eratures can be determined.

determine the severity of the problems.

quantized images in 10 selectable colours. Each colour
corresponds to a discrete thermal level. This technique
enhances the thermal resolution and is particularly
valuable for dynamic applications where either the object
is moving or the temperature is changing rapidly.
A number of picture modes are available, allowing for
highly flexible thermal analysis in addition to a larger and
often more desirable image display format.
The autocolour attachment is a means of obtaining
a quantified colour image directly from the black and white
monitor screen. By employing an automatic multiple
exposure technique, a colour image is built-up directly on
the colour film.
The entire process takes about 10 seconds and is an
excellent means of obtaining relatively low-cost colour
images of thermally and spatially static objects. The system
primarily uses Polaroid film, but adaption

to other cameras is feasible.

Adapt the scanner
to optimise your application requirements.
The infrared scanner is available in two standard versions-the
short wavelength (SW) scanner operating
in the 2.0 to 5.6 micron range and the long wavelength (LW)
scanner which operates in the 8 to 12 micron range of the
infrared spectrum.
For the majority of applications, the standard SW scanner
is the optimum choice.
The LW scanner is recommended when the mea-
surement of low temperatures over long distances is required,
e.g. in airborne applications such as geothermal
surveys.
The SW scanner optics have an antireflective coating
peaked at 5 micron as standard. The LW scanner is peaked at
10 micron.
LENSES.
The lens is an important part of the scanning system.
It not only determines the field of view but also the
spatial or geometrical resolution of the system:
There are five easily exchangeable lenses avail-

FILTERS.
Filters are available for use with both short and long
wavelength systems. The most commonly used are available
as standard.
High temperature/Glass - used to measure surface
temperature of glass and when measuring object tem-
peratures between 900°C and 1,600°C.
Atmospheric - used to image shortwave lasers.
Flame - used to image hot objects (>300°C)
through gas or flame atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide - used to measure energy in the CO2
absorption band.
Long Pass - used to prevent energy shorter than
7 microns from being detected by the LW scanner.
Short Pass - used to measure temperatures of hot
objects (80°C) in the short wavelength band using the long
wavelength scanner.
CO2 laser - used to limit sensitivity to energy emitted
by the 10.6 micron CO2 laser. A filter cassette is included with each scanner.
Other filters may be used to optimize system The cassette can hold up to 7 different filters, which are
