CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Presented in this chapter are the summary of findings, conclusions and

recommendations.

SUMMARY

The main purpose of this study was to produce a device that can help the

visually impaired people to provide information about their surroundings. The

researchers have successfully created a Shoe Object Detector Alarm as an

Assistive Device that can detect stationary and moving objects. It will create a

noise that will inform the person about an obstacle within close proximity thus

being an alternative low cost assistive device to visually impaired people. The

following statements are findings of the researchers after series of interpretation

and analysis:

1. The Shoe Object Detector Alarm successfully worked after several

times of testing from stationary and moving objects within the

parameters or proximity we set which is 2 meters and it did operate

upon detecting the objects in its surroundings.

2. The Shoe Object Detector Alarm can automatically detect objects in its

surroundings at least 2 meters.

33
3. The Shoe Object Detector Alarm system operates well upon detecting

stationary or moving objects within the set parameters or proximity

where the device is placed.

CONCUSSIONS

The evidence gathered by the researchers seems to indicate that the

objective meant by this research was achieved. The researchers were able to

create a Shoe Object Detector Alarm that could both detect stationary and

moving objects within the parameters it is set. The device has a high sensitivity to

objects in its surroundings. Based on the summary of findings, the researchers

came up with these results of the study and finally drew up the following

conclusions:

1. The Shoe Object Detector Alarm successfully worked because of the

proper and accurate coding that is set in the Arduino (microcontroller)

that is used in the device. It is designed to perform our desired

operation in an embedded system.

2. The Shoe Object Detector Alarm effectively sense objects in its

surroundings at least 2 meters.

3. The Shoe Object Detector operates well because it can both detect

stationary and moving objects anytime and anywhere if the device is

used. The signals which includes the sound that is produce in the

alarm system or buzzer and the light from the led functions completely

well upon detecting objects that surrounds it.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The following are the researchers’ recommendations to improve the

functionality and presentation of the study.

1. The researchers suggest some directions for further research. The

research project needs a further improvement in its configuration for its

better function. The researchers would recommend to add more detailed

understanding on the project and to give a lot of improvements for its

better usefulness and understanding.

2. The Shoe Object Detector would be efficient and more convenient if the

device materials are properly arranged or put because it consumes too

many space which makes it uncomfortable to be used.

3. The Shoe Object Detector research design should be more practical.

4. The researchers highly recommend future inventors to build and create a

stronger and sturdier device for the better version of the device.

5. Any future project considered should be planned to combine all possible

information regarding the results of the implementations. This will makes

better use of the findings and the devices use.

6. The researchers’ recommends that this special designed project should be

endorsed for testing in those people with visually impaired problems. To

gain more knowledge on how to make improvements and implementation

in the device. The ideas would contribute a big help for the improvements

for it to be more applicable and acceptable in today’s market.
