Scalloped Crochet Top Pattern

Materials & Tools: Gauge:

• Scalloped top: 120 [140, 160, 180] yards of • 16 hdc sts per 4”/10cm
worsted weight yarn. Shown in Lily Sugar 'n • 11 hdc rows per 4”/10cm

RS – Right side
Sizing: Sc– Single crochet
Sk– Skip
Sl st – Slip stitch
To choose a size, you can go by the bra size St(s) – Stitch(es)
(common sizes are listed) or the cup WS – Wrong side
measurements (measure a bra or bikini top
that has the fit you want).

XS & S: There is a 1” space between the cups.


M & L: The inner cups are sewn up 1-2” from
the bottom.

Halter and back ties are about 14.5”/27cm


long. They stretch out more over time. You can
add more stitches or less to get the desired
length.

Cups (Make 2):

hdc. Rotate work to crochet on the bottom of the foundation chain. Hdc 5 [7, 9, 11]. Hdc into the
beg ch 2. Ch 2, turn. 14 (18, 23, 26) sts.

R2: Hdc to the middle marked st and 3 hdc in that st (and keep marking the middle hdc). Hdc to
end. Ch 2, turn. 16 (20, 25, 28) sts.

Crochet 4 (5, 6, 7) more rows back and forth, continuing to mark the middle hdc and increasing in
the marked stitch. 36 (39, 43, 46) sts.

Don't fasten off. Keep the stitch marker in the middle hdc. Now crochet the edging rows according
to your size.

XS – Cup Edging Rows:

R1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in next st* x6. Ch 1, dc in the
marked hdc st (and you can remove the stitch marker now), ch 1, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in
next st* x6. Ch 1, dc into the last st (the beg ch 2). Ch 3, turn. (7 dc on one side, 3 dc at the top with
no sk sts in between, 7 dc on the other side)

R2: 2 dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts, 5 dc in next st* x7. Sk 3 sts, 3 dc in last st. (7 shells, 2 half shells at
the beg and end.)

Fasten off. Skip ahead to work on the back ties & connecting the cups.

S – Cup Edging Rows:

R1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk 2 sts, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in next st* x7. Ch 1, dc in the
marked hdc st (and you can remove the stitch marker now), ch 1, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in
next st* x7. Ch 1, dc into the last st (the beg ch 2). Ch 3, turn. (8 dc on one side, 3 dc at the top with
no sk sts in between, 8 dc on the other side)

R2: 2 dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts, 5 dc in next st* x7. Sk 3 sts, 3 dc in last st. (8 shells, 2 half shells at
the beg and end.)

Fasten off. Skip ahead to work on the back ties & connecting the cups.

M – Cup Edging Rows:

R1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in next st* x9. Ch 1, dc in the

with no sk sts in between, 10 dc on the other side.)

R2: 2 dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts, 5 dc in next st* x7. Sk 3 sts, 3 dc in last st. (10 shells, 2 half shells at
the beg and end.)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail on one of the cups. Skip ahead to work on the back ties & connecting
the cups.

L – Cup Edging Rows:

R1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in next st* x11. Ch 1, dc in the
marked hdc st (and you can remove the stitch marker now), ch 1, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in
next st* x11. Ch 1, dc into the last st (the beg ch 2). Ch 3, turn. (12 dc on one side, 3 dc at the top
with no sk sts in between, 12 dc on the other side)

R2: 2 dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts, 5 dc in next st* x7. Sk 3 sts, 3 dc in last st. (12 shells, 2 half shells at
the beg and end.)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail on one of the cups.

Back Ties and Connecting the Cups:

R1 (RS): Starting with the back ties, fsc 58. Don't fasten off.

XS/S: Sc 22 on the bottom of the cup, ch 4, sc 22 on the bottom of the next cup. Place a stitch
marker in the last stitch made on the cup. You will be starting the next row of the band in that
stitch.

M/L: Sc 24 on the bottom of each cup. Make sure the long tail from one of the cups is on the inner

side between the cups and use that tail to stitch the bottom sides of the cups together about 1-2
inches – sew up one half shell & one shell. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch made on the cup.
You will be starting the next row of the band in that stitch.

Make the other side of the back ties, fsc 58.

Fasten off. Turn work to WS to crochet the band.

Band:

R2 (WS): Make a slipknot, insert hook into the marked stitch (the last stitch made in the cup, not
the fsc stitches) and sc to the end. Ch 1, turn. (48 sts)

Crochet 3 more rows back and forth in single crochet. (48 sts)

R6 (WS): Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc in next st. *Ch 1, sk st, dc in next st* x22. Ch 1, dc in
the last st (the beg ch 2). Turn. (25 dc and 24 ch)

R7-8: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk st, dc in dc. *Ch 1, sk ch, dc in next dc* x23. Turn. (25 dcs and
24 ch, 2 rows)

R9 (RS): Ch 3, 2 dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts, 5 dc in next st* x7. Sk 3 sts, 3 dc in last st. (11 shells, 2
half shells at the beg and end.)

Fasten off.

Halter Ties (Make 2):

R1: Fsc 58. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew one on the top center of each cup.

Weave in all the ends.
