Calibration comprises dark current measurement and

a balance. For dark current measurement, the shutter
is moved to block the light path and the am01.1Ut of
stra.y light still rea, ching photodiodes is measured and
subtracted from all subsequent measurements. When a
bala, nce is made, the eluent absorbance in the flow cell is

between the current absorbance and the absorbance
measured at the ba.lance time.
If yo 1.1. ha,ve an HP 1040, pressing the (Oper"te) key on the
front panel has the same function as the (Lomp on I key on
the HP 1090 keyboard.
If your HP 1090 has an a,uto-injector, the DAD is
calibrated automa, tically before an injection cycle is
started. If your UP 1090 has a manual injection-va.lve,
the DAD must be calibrated manua.lly by pressing
(Lamp on) Or (Operate! (on the HP 1040 front panel).
