Dear Parents or Guardians,

Let me introduce myself. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University-San Antonio with a degree
in History, and I am looking forward to a new school term as your child’s teacher. This year will
be an exciting time for us all. We will study ( Special education ) in preparation for the
successful completion of the state’s standardized tests next spring. I have planned many activities
throughout the course of the year that are designed to help your child succeed academically, not
only this year but in the future.
Students and their parents or guardians are naturally curious about the amount and types of
homework to be assigned this term. There will be homework assignments on Monday through
Thursday night. On the weekends there will be no formal assignments, but students can use this
time to read, study or to work on projects. These assignments should only take about thirty to 45
minutes. You should expect to see your child spending about 120 minutes per week reviewing,
reading, working on projects, or studying. Due dates for assignments will be given on the day
the work is assigned. The first time an assignment is missed, I will discuss it with your child.
After that, I will be contacting you if assignments are not completed in a timely manner.
Assignments are expected to be turned in on the due date. The student will have the option to
retake or redo assignments, If the grade is not to their liking. If they put real mental effort into
their attempt, then they have furthered themselves along the path to their own education.
If there are any issues, please do not hesitate to contact me.
A copy of the weekly schedule will be given to each student to keep in his or her binder as well
as posted online. In addition, students are expected to copy their assignments into their
assignment notebooks at the start of the class each day. The goal for this year is for the students
to learn to invest their time in themselves, Cultivate a positive learning environment, and pass
the TAKS at the end of the year.
When and if you have questions or wish to talk to me about your child, please feel free to e-mail
me at (Musslewhite11@gmail.com ) or to call me at school. Our number is (1112223232).
I am looking forward to working with my new students this year. I am also looking forward to
meeting you and working with you to help your child succeed.
Best Wishes,
Taylor Musslewhite
